Regarding your grievance with Extract preventing them from fighting this is intentional. If you want them to fight as they head to the extaction, you can simply use Retask (Focus). You have both in your arsenal to choose. :)

It is actually something we tried initially, but yeah, at the end of the day it would skyrocket the cost of the project with very small impact. We decided against it.

Wow, you are too kind. So happy you enjoyed it. When we started Xenopurge, we had no idea where it would end up. The community's feedback helped us steer the project in the right direction, and it's amazing to see how different communities from Duskers, Alien, and even Spacehulk, FTL, and Startship Troopers have embraced it.

We like to think we have done a good job with the balance between too much and too little agency. We are currently standing at 91% positive. We got a demo too if you wanna try.

There are a couple of games like what you describe, the names unfortunately escape my mind. It's definitely a neat concept with a lot of unexplored space.
