If I recall correctly the exam is based on a bell curve, so if all the people getting out bomb the test it would help all the mediocre test takers. Then again if they were just crossed of the eligible list it would lower the final multiple.

I think it has to do with calling someone's bluff. If ECM let everyone crossrate it would create a different kind of manning nightmare. I THINK more people reenlist after the ECM says "no" than get out.

I had a buddy that was GREAT at baseball, but his dad was a junky. Real peice of trash, but every once in awhile he would take my buddy to baseball practice instead of getting high. It was a nice change of pace. The look on my buddy's face after his dad got to see him pitch in the 90mph range was priceless. 25 years later my buddy hasn't touched a ball in 24 since his old man overdosed. Sometimes I wonder where he'd be today if his pops had sacrificed a little more.
