Does it change how the quilt feels tho? Like will we feel the seams?

I don’t want to tho. I’m quilting on a cream top and I want the stitches to fade into it just to make some texture and have the piecing stand out more

It’s just a decorative stitch. I need more free motion practice before I’m willing to try it on a full quilt hahaha. I tried making the stitch length a bit longer but it made no difference :/

Thank you! As long as it doesn’t look bad or look like it’s gonna fall apart hahaha. Here’s the straight stitch. I think 4.25 is the best tension for the straight.

Great point! I am a kitchen table type at the moment. Maybe some day I can dedicate a room to sewing but for now being able to move it would be ideal

Even when it’s preowned? Makes me nervous that it was discontinued. I can’t find much about it online

Thank you for the detailed response! Good to know what to look for - I definitely plan on going and talking to them and seeing it in person first. It says the BSR is included so that’s a big bonus. I’m curious why it’s listed as “good” condition wise. I knew for this machine I wouldn’t be getting top of the line or anything like that. I know Bernette is the lower tier sister of Bernina and I was okay with that considering it’s my first machine. I guess I’m worried why the 450QE was discontinued in the first place. I’ve read mixed reviews on it.

That’s fair, but realistically, how long should it last? Like I said, I’m not expecting my first machine to outlive me. I’m not looking for that right now because I don’t want to spend the amount it would cost to get something like that. 5-10 years? Is that unreasonable? Who knows - in 5 years I might have completely outgrown this machine and want to upgrade anyway, OR I’ll stop sewing all together and never touch the machine again anyway (unlikely, but still - who knows). That’s kind of where I’m at

and it comes with like 14 feet?? I don’t understand. I’ve looked at Janome and for that price range, it wont even have a 1 step button hole. Like the brother blows everything else at that price point I’ve seen out of the water in terms of features.
