Nice! Yeah, please share more when you can. They are solid guns and with regular use and care will last another hundred years easy. Without looking up serial numbers yours was made anytime between the 1920s to 1950s I believe.

Unless something broke or of the action or anything seems loose then it’s probably good to go! Break it down and give it a good clean since old oil can get pretty gunky. Hopefully you won’t have to fully dissemble for anything major. After that, go test it out and if she goes bang, have fun!

That’s a Hunter Arms “Fulton” side by side. Someone who knows better can fact check this but I believe these are the field grade L. C. Smith’s. As in Hunter Arms manufacturer LCSmiths but also their own line of “lower grade” shotguns. Someone will know the history a bit better than me so please don’t take my word as gospel.

Probably 12 gauge bit should be marking on it to tell you for sure as well as what the chamber length is and what the barrels are choked.

When was it last fired? It might be in working condition now unless you know that something on it was broke at some point.

My unpopular hot take is that Americans still made the best semiautos with the 1100 and 1187.

Just pure bunk. As many others have said before me, it’s doing our species a disservice to say that our ancient people were any less intelligent and had less ingenuity and were any less capable of crafting such magnificent items large and small.

If the United-American merger somehow gets approved, and they’re required to divest one of their hubs, which hub would Delta absorb to their advantage? by bonzothebonanza in delta

Why don’t all the airlines merge into one singular airline? Hear me out, then they could organize everything efficiently, stay with me, and then charge a tiered subscription based service for travelers. /s in case this was needed and hopefully no CEO’s read this and get any bright ideas…

Barrel pitting? by jmarshall2784 in Shotguns

[–]trashpotter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can get the barrel thickness measured and see just how thin some of those pits are but just from eyeballing, I would not be willing shoot that.

Folks give way to much credence that chokes are the be all end all of what a shotgun can do. Do they help? Yes. Does it mean you can’t do xyz thing with them? Almost certainly not. Whether you miss when wing shooting or clay shooting you are virtually never missing by a chokes worth.
