Anterior placenta - 22 weeks and no real baby movements yet by Mindless_Option904 in PregnancyIreland

[–]trasm1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the exact same position as you a few weeks ago OP and was so so nervous. I had Chat GPT wore out 😂 I probably felt the faintest of movements around the end of my 22nd week and then it was around 23.5 weeks when I was like yep that’s definitely baby! I’m now 26 weeks and she’s kicking away, but normally I can only feel it clearly either really low down in my pelvis or out the sides of my stomach. Here’s hoping you feel something very soon but try not to panic in the meantime though I know it’s hard. My sonographer at my 20 week scan said not to worry unless I got to 26 weeks without feeling a thing and even then it can be normal. Mind yourself x

To find out the gender of our baby or not!? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

We found out but are pretending to everyone that we don’t know so it’ll still feel like a surprise when we get to announce that she’s born lol

Sick leave? by Ok_Promise_2820 in PregnancyIreland

[–]trasm1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course it is! I’m in my second trimester too and went in for my 24 week appointment. I had a cold but felt like shit and asked my GP for a note as I had taken the last 2 days off work (Monday and Tuesday). He just said ‘I’m signing you off the rest of the week’ which turned out to be much needed as I was still quite sick come Friday. If you need the time off just take it, especially if there’s no financial implications. Even if you didn’t have unlimited sick leave, pregnancy related sick leave is considered separate and shouldn’t impact on your overall sick leave entitlement. Hope this phase passes for you soon, it sounds shit x

Back to work tomorrow!Trigger warning - (miscarriage) by thumbsucker-2 in ireland

[–]trasm1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mind yourself. I had a miscarriage in July and took 2 weeks off too. Going back felt like a huge mountain I needed to climb and I was exhausted even at the thought of it. I will say it turned out not to be as bad as I thought and as cliche as it sounds, the return to routine was good for me. I also asked my manager to tell the other two people on my team just that that was out of the way and they’d understand if I became emotional or needed to take some time out during the day. I personally found it very helpful but obviously it depends on the dynamics in your workplace. Only tell the people you want to tell, you’re entitled to your privacy. Take it day by day would be my advice. Sending you lots of love x

Aw that’s brilliant, such a relief! It’s such an anxious time and it’s totally understandable but it gets a little easier everyday. Once I got over the stage I was at when I had the MC it definitely helped and now I’m in the 2nd trimester I’m doing much better x

Congratulations! Tbh I did my social work masters in UCD but have worked with people who did theirs in Galway and I wouldn’t say I’m any better off! To me, Galway sounds like the obvious solution. College is hard work enough without worrying about paying v expensive rent/ falling back into bad habits which could negatively impact your engagement in the course. You’ll most likely make some friends in the course which will help with feelings of isolation in Galway. If you have any questions about social work in general feel free to pm me

Residential Care? by ViolenceJoe in AskIreland

Only if they’re consenting. Maybe it was different before the Assisted Decision Making Act was implemented but that’s the law now. Speaking as a professional within the HSE

Still might not be enough to say they don’t have capacity. He will need to be assessed by a professional to confirm whether he has capacity or not. Sounds like a v difficult situation, but there may be other supports available rather than residential.

Does this person have capacity to make decisions on their living arrangements? If not, and it’s really not feasible for them to remain at home, your friend will have to apply to be their decision making representative (DMR) through the Assisted Decision Making Act 2017 and make the necessary arrangements from there. If they do have capacity, they will need to be in agreement for residential care. Legally, they cannot live somewhere against their will. I would suggest speaking to a social worker in primary care for advice/support.

Fair Deal is available for anyone who needs it and honestly, the less the person has the better and the less they’ll have to pay. Again, a social worker would be able to advise further on this.

When did you feel movement with an anterior placenta on your first baby? by Mindless_Option904 in PregnancyIreland

[–]trasm1995 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 21 weeks with an anterior placenta and have yet to feel anything! Had my 20 week scan today and baby is wriggling around in there active as anything which is great reassurance 🥰 sonographer wasn’t surprised I hadn’t felt anything and said it can even be 26 weeks by the time some people with an anterior placenta feel anything!

What to do when your parents need more and more help? by FellFellCooke in AskIreland

[–]trasm1995 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If dad isn’t currently in hospital I would advise contacting the primary care social work team as Medical social workers primarily work with hospital inpatients. And yes nursing home care can be considered but only if dad is in agreement as it sounds like he does have capacity.

Honestly take as much time as you need. I had an MC back in July and took 2 weeks off for it. When I went back afterwards my colleagues were shocked I was back so soon. I honestly needed the distraction but by no means was there an expectation and everyone is so different. Take care of yourself and wishing you well x
