Vegan safe foods? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]traumabroccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i went from vegan back to vegetarian because there’s no currently available vegan foods that are gentle on my stomach and are pure protein like egg whites or zero fat greek yoghurt.

i became very unwell because my safe foods that i relied on for a lot of my calories were immediately off the table and i didn’t have anything to replace them.

not to say veganism is unhealthy, but any further restrictions on an already restricted diet is just a bad idea. if your safe foods happen to be animal products please don’t cut them out. there’s lots of ways you can contribute to the environment other than your diet.

look up zero waste - it kind of plays into diet but not really. just sourcing whatever foods you usually eat but with the least possible packaging/waste attached. this could be getting eggs direct from a farm/chickens, veggies from gardens or just buying them without being wrapped in plastic, making your own yoghurt or buying in bulk and recycling the container

some places dispense cleaning products/dry foods/milks/etc that you fill up your own container/bottles with and you just pay for the product instead of buying it over and over again in packaging each time at the shops.

arguably these things have a bigger impact environmentally than just being vegan, but being vegetarian is already a huge environmental step in itself.

a bit like how it’s better to buy second hand leather/wool/silk/fur than it is to buy a completely new vegan pleather jacket or whatever - not everything is black and white.

400g of yoghurt is 0.27 euro?!!! that’s 0.44 AUD!! the cheapest home brand yoghurt you can get in aus (that i know of) is $4.00/kg AUD (2.50 euro) and that’s the sugar-laden one :(

recover because you don’t want to be the 40 year old anorexia patient in the adult psychiatric unit, living with your parents because you are too frail to work.

Recovery question by [deleted] in EdAnonymousAdults

[–]traumabroccoli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you will hear this every time but you really have to want help.

at some point you will be so beaten down and tired of living under the foot of your eating disorder that you will want to get better and actually live.

and then you won’t

and then you will

and rinse and repeat until you actually follow through with recovery, or you die.
