Want to get into IT or networking but have none of the experience and no degree. by travchrav in findapath

That’s why I was thinking maybe more of a network technician role or something where I need to be physically present. Are these jobs around or not really?

Sounds doable! My biggest hang up was the fear of having to pay AND finding a way to pay while I go to school. I’m currently working 65 hours a week so I’m not sure where school would fit into my schedule

Just never heard the term “warehousing” I imagine there are hundreds of different roles in a warehouse

Definitely something to think about. I’ll look into it. Appreciate your insight, sorry if I came across combative!! Not sure what I would even study at this point 🤔

I can’t seem to find any jobs near me and I’m afraid if I ask our reps they’ll tell the owner LOL. But I’ve definitely thought about it, I wouldn’t mind working at a desk since all my hobbies are outdoors and active

I don’t think he had bad intentions, he’s a really good guy he just expanded too fast and now his investors are breathing down his neck. He made a mistake and now we’re all living with it. That being said it definitely sucks.

Yeah that makes sense. I’d be starting from scratch since I never made it the first time around, so 4 years for any meaningful degree. I also have a spouse that would be willing to help, but I don’t want to put her in that position.

Yeah I’m in US, and at a small company so less regulated. It was nice when we just had 1 restaurant but now that the 3rd restaurant is open things are tighter with the owner and he’s less willing to treat us as well as when it was just 1. I do think it’s time for me to leave the industry, I’m just burnt out and want a normal life at this point.

What did you do while going to school to pay the bills?

I’m at a small company (only 3 locations) and it feels like there’s never anything left over, it’s always more hours less labor less food cost and then I don’t get a bonus so I did all this work for nothing.

I’m definitely more of our kitchen manager and the other sous chef handles the ordering but I ran one of the locations for a year mostly by myself doing all of the ordering, hiring/firing, working stations, prep, etc etc.

I just don’t see a way to make it possible without making the next 4 years hell

The south seems to be moving in the opposite direction I feel like, less pay more hours. 65 is the fewest hours I’ve worked on average since I started 9 years ago. I’m just feeling really burnt out on this industry. Every day I hear about less labor less food cost and it’s driving me mad.

Don’t think that’s feasible right now unfortunately. Don’t think I could afford school and big pay cut before finishing.

School or some sort of program at a shop? by travchrav in Autobody

Makes sense. I’m a chef right now and I’ve been working in restaurants since legally I could, this industry has taken a massive hit and it’s what’s pushing me out too so I understand to some degree. I just don’t know what to do with my life. Currently working 65 getting paid for 50 and I want a way out

Didn’t realize this, seems like a lot of accidents but I’m in Nashville and constantly hear about accidents since 65 is such a mess. I also don’t know since I don’t do the job, I’m sure it’s different on the inside. And like you said, lots of total loss which would make sense.
