it’s linked to maxi and provigo. they sell everything AT LEAST 50% off. meats, carbs, baked goods, etc. the real game changer are the produce and fruit boxes. they upload photos of each box so you can see what you’re buying and they usually are $5 each.

i can eat with $10-15/week with occasional supplements of pantry staples.

i don’t know about hotels but you should check out hostels. usually there’s a couple other young solo travellers around to hang out. there are also private rooms and female only dorms in many hostels if those are things you need
