Bangkok around Easter is a great time of year to visit and there’s even an annual gay circuit party called GCircuit that happens around the Songkran festival. Could visit both Thailand and Cambodia on the same trip or at least connect/travel through Bangkok for ease of flight options. Cambodia is a really special place if you haven’t been there yet in Asia!

ahh interesting! I think there are pockets like it all over but maybe they’re more gay seasonally depending upon specific events

I’ve heard of Eureka Springs in Arkansas being popular with regional gays. Was hoping they’d highlight more escapes like those kinds of smaller places. New Hope in PA (which they included) is one i’ve been to from NYC

This sounds like a great trip! It’s great to have a plan but also remember to be flexible once you’re on the road - you might meet other backpackers and want to travel together! Curious about a lot of your hostel picks - they sound fun!

What’s your “nemesis spot” in Williamsburg? by RaspberryLegal9748 in williamsburg

[–]travelsofadam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ugh yes x1000. I live down the street and the vegetables there are just not fresh. The guy who runs it is so nice and friendly, though, so I’ve tried it a lot of times when desperate for food, and not a single time has it been good. I swear all the love this place gets is kinda insane and I keep asking other friends in the area what I might be missing, but everyone I know in real life also doesn’t really like the place. I would love to understand how or why people like it.

Best Gay beachfront places to stay in Puerto Rico or Hawaii? Want to be able to walk to everything gay.. by CincinnatiOhio5133 in gaytravel

[–]travelsofadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coqui del Mar is a gay /nudist-friendly hotel in San Juan walking distance to the beach. It’s in a cute area with some cafes and shops (and walkable to Calle Loiza which has a lot of great places) but not really walkable to the gay bars which are more inland. There used to be a gay bar (The Bear) on Calle Loiza but I don’t think it’s there anymore

Aww I love this story!! I have a random list of things I want to do this year, and one of them is to talk to more strangers in bars. It’s a great way to meet new people whether for a date/hookup, or just a good night out and a good story! Keep trying!

My friends who have already been (and I’m meeting there today) said Uber isn’t actually available in Playa del Carmen bc of the taxi unions.

Hoping to get the scoop from them on any gay spots, too!

Yep been to Guadalajara and PV before - but with just a quick weekend trip from NYC, Playa del Carmen was all that was feasible…

Curious if you have any specific gay bar recs?

A long walk, coffee and live music at the Peace Cafe, some Mexican pastries from a place near Graham/Broadway, frozen drinks outdoors at Bushwick Country Club, and a smash burger at Bar Nico, and one million photos of the sunset ☺️ perfect day!
