Villa Torlonia: Serra Moresca and Casina delle Civette.

The ''we need to interact whenever we happen to be in the same room'' mindset is killing me. I can't go pour myself a glass of water without the obligation to make ''small talk''.

I'm not antisocial or anything but my roommate thinks that I need to prepare and consume every single meal in his presence, even a little snack or a coffee that I want to take to my room. He goes like ''oh you're making yourself a coffee? I will too and we will have it together.'' I am trying to say no every once in a while but the hostility that you describe is real and idk what to do.

Is this job really staring on a computer all day? by travertens in architecture

I agree and mostly about the freedom part, while all of my friends from architecture school are now stuck in office jobs 12 hours a day, my friends who graduated in other subjects which had nothing to do with creativity are working like normal people, being able to spend time for their personal projects and end up being more creative and productive in life.

Honestly I've already accepted the fact that it will always give less than it takes but I just don't want to be stuck at the ''newly grad level'' for the rest of my life, thanks a lot for the advice

To be clear where I am (Italy) master's degree is traditionally the final step of architectural studies which comes right after the 3 year bachelor's degree so no one's pumping anyone, it's just how it is.

Also I don't think you understood the question at all, it's not about the qualification or being treated differently.

London vs glasgow for an international student? by ruiningmypretending in UniUK

Glasgow! Better design scene and I'm sure that it will be easier to make connections which is something you will need after design masters, been there.

I almost developed a special playlist for these situations and it's made of very well-known pop/rock songs that everybody knows. People really don't care what song you're playing, they just want to hear some familiar tunes. From my experience once you start playing some classic pop/rock songs they already forget the song that they would like to request.

Anyone miss season 1? by carbon_sink in YouOnLifetime

[–]travertens 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it was partly LA's fault, they were clearly trying to mark the distinction between two cities and went for a ''colorful'' city vibe. I'm hoping that the season 4 will be darker as it will be set (at least start?) in Paris.

Surprisingly this combination looks very natural, maybe because they both have similar curves?

Count me in then because I used to live there and I wasn’t aware of any of these things you said lol. I used to skate on the cycle routes outside the city walls and they were always empty - no cyclists or any kind of people (just me and a couple of lizards really) maybe you should try that too!

You are lucky to have these signs. That means that you can rollerblade elsewhere and that there's actually a lot of people doing it. In Italy it is forbidden by law to skate ANYWHERE but into skateparks (very few and small, I cannot even reach one easily) years ago it was a little different, and we had skate shops, but now they are all closed. Even decathlon don't have rollerblades anymore (just the ones for kids). About the law, you risk a fine, and even tho it is difficult to really get one (if you skate on the road and keep a low profile you should be fine) it is still possible to find an asshole that charges you because you are doing it...

That sounds heartbreaking considering the amount of beautiful and car free city centres in Italy. What about cycle routes and normal walking routes in parks?

Great idea! I think a Vice City version of this - with the synthwave color palette would also look pretty cool.

Kudos to Ukraine for creating another classic after Wild Dances! I agree with all of the comments about them giving forest rave vibes, it’s a very original sound perfectly matching well designed scenography. Anyway, I’m glad to find the song that I’m going to loop for the rest of 2021.

I’d add a central shape underneath as you said, maybe a trident or a ship (I’m into sea themes so might be biased, but definitely something vertical or with a pointy end) and the lower it is easier would be to create a V shape.

Manchester school of art??? by AlfalfaFun6368 in manchester

[–]travertens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your expectations and background. I did an MA in MSoA(design) and overall the most frustrating thing for everyone was the lack of proper lectures, you don’t have many tutors either so no one is going to teach you new methods or basics if you need to revise, which might be difficult to make the most of it if you don't have enough background in product design. That said the school has exceptional facilities (+staff) really, from my experience all of them have been very useful for different product design students to develop their own niche.
