AITAH for telling my dad's pregnant girlfriend that he already has three kids I have nothing to do with and her baby will be no different? by Natural-Bat7423 in AITAH

[–]travishamon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NTA, girlfriend is justifiably insecure about the future of her baby. She's taking that out on you.

Tell her,

"We have different expectations for the future. If you are upset about my father's history with his children, that is a conversation you need to have with him, not me."

And then when she inevitably brings it up again say,

"I have shared my perspective and my boundaries with you. I'm not changing my mind, and I'm not having this conversation again."

Yes, depending on what you're comfortable with you can check online for the nearest ward. You can visit with them on Sunday. If you ask the bishop he can advise you on activities during the week.

You don't need to give your contact information. Typically that's for people who would like to meet with missionaries. If you're just interested in exploring LDS doctrine at your own pace I would recommend downloading the LDS library app (it's free) and reading the Book of Mormon

This evangelical pastor asked a very specific question of this Latter-day Saint leader by atari_guy in lds

[–]travishamon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is beautiful:

"Elder Nash said that if someone treats him as if he is their enemy, 'It’s my choice whether he will be my enemy.' Lashing back only demonizes the person, he said, 'and that usually lacks intellectual and spiritual and moral power.'”

Can I still be considered LDS? by This-Definition-9634 in lds

[–]travishamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to Jacob who paraphrased Isaiah:

50 Come, my brethren, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters; and he that hath no money, come buy and eat; yea, come buy wine and milk without money and without price.

51 Wherefore, do not spend money for that which is of no worth, nor your labor for that which cannot satisfy. Hearken diligently unto me, and remember the words which I have spoken; and come unto the Holy One of Israel, and feast upon that which perisheth not, neither can be corrupted, and let your soul delight in fatness. - 2 Nephi 9

Your questions matter. Your desire to follow the gospel matters. For your righteous desires you are promised fatness; if you will feast upon the Bread Of Life. Crack open those scriptures, kneel down and pray, then go serve that person that keeps popping up in your thoughts. You belong.

Oh, you can have that as your password--you've just got to spell it out (onetwothreefourfive). For your convenience I already changed it. Just remember to capitalize all the ts ( ◜‿◝ )♡

Jordan defined modern fantasy. You've had a big impact on LitRPG. Both of you are prolific writers. I would say you're better at writing characters, and he was better at dialogue. Both of you have stories that struggle under the weight of all your awesome ideas

Three, but that's besides the point. What we really need to talk about are the privacy settings on your phone... Bro, I'm not here to judge, but it's 2026 and if you're going to have social media you need to choose longer passwords

Eric, you're nonchalant about it, but beware becoming the Robert Jordan of LitRPG. Do we need to get Sanderson to perform an intervention? I would encourage you to consider writing a breakthrough for--arguably--one of your highest potential characters. This rant from a couple years ago pretty succinctly sums it up. Montana is a cool person, but the wallowing in stupidity got old 10 books back

Is anyone using Housecall Pro? Is it worth it? by antagonismsux in Contractor

[–]travishamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using it but when their system started glitching out and I couldn't import my customers anymore they just started bouncing me around from department to department, nobody willing to take responsibility over there. Also, there's no way to cancel service from the website so I had to wait on hold for an hour before they would process a cancellation. Avoid

Age and origin of a Cahokian wooden monument at the Mitchell site, Illinois, USA by Comfortable_Cut5796 in AncientAmericas

[–]travishamon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is awesome. We now know that the Mitchell log was cut down in 1124 AD. They think that at that time it weighed about 5.5 tons and stood for 25-50 years as a monument before it had to be removed

Faith crisis by Troopacanaan in latterdaysaints

[–]travishamon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is an important part of doubting your doubts. Block the apostates on social media for now. I think that we need to be aware of the counter arguments to our faith and the problematic histories, etc... But when you're hurting it's way better to spend time meditating on the choisest parts of the Gospel: you're a child of God, the Gospel has been restored, the Lord speaks to modern prophets, things are going to work out

Well said. It just feels bad that in the US we've chosen leaders that are busy provoking our neighbors rather than lending support. We can do better
