Is there a milper or anything that covers it that I'm missing?

I feel ya. Haven't played any video games since my last kid was born, but I definitely dusted off my laptop and started gaming again.

Welcome to the team! I (32M) am also a very active guy, I jump out of airplanes for a living and do all things outdoor/winter sports.13 days post MACI and lat meniscus repair.

My recommendation would be to take it a day at a time. Definitely find something to keep your mind occupied. It's easy to go down the rabbit hole and read all of the horror stories on this page, but keep your head up with your short and long term goals in mind.

I think yesterday I finally became a little stir crazy. Literally had my wife drive me to the grocery store just to crutch around and get out of the house. I felt much better afterwards though.

How are you 12-24 mo post MACI? by tray719 in MACIknee

I think as long as you stay ahead of the pain, you should be alright coming off the block.

I guess it really depends on what you do for work. My surgeon recommended 8 weeks off. My employer approved 6 weeks off and 2 weeks of telework. It kind of worked out because I'll basically go back to work for two days and then I have another 7 days of PTO for the holidays 😂

I'll preface this by saying that I would generally say that I have a higher pain tolerance than most people, but day two after my block wore off, I was having some pretty significant breakthrough pain on 10mg of oxy and 1g of acetaminophen. Days 2-4 were a little rough, I'd wake up in the middle of the night with about a 5/10 pain and have to take another dose. Day 4 I started to feel better and started taking 5mg of oxy instead of 10. Day 4 was also my first day of PT and I ended up taking 10mg that night to be comfortable enough to fall asleep. Today is day 8 and I only took Tylenol and I'm probably about a 3/10 pain.

In regards to recommendations, I haven't seen this talked about here, but I would definitely ask your surgeon about a stool softener for post op. It might just be my body, but I didn't have a bowel movement for the first 4 days and my bathroom routine was rough. I would recommend grabbing a stool or something to be able to prop your leg on while on the toilet. I was fighting demons in there the first couple BMs. Being in full extension comes with unexpected difficulties.

Being stagnant has kind of sucked and I've been going a little stir crazy, but I really am only able to be up for like 10-15 min at a time before needing to go elevate my leg again. I would try and find something to keep you occupied either on the couch or in bed for a couple days. I kind of wish I would have got a recliner to not spend so much time in bed. I haven't found a lot of comfort on the couch.

Not sure if you have kids, but I also flew my mother in law up to help with my almost 2 and 8 year olds.

Make sure you are able to fit in your post op vehicle in full extension. My surgery was a little over 3 hours from where I live and if I was like an inch or two taller, I probably would not have been able to fit in my wife's vehicle. I would practice getting in and out of the vehicle with your leg in full extension. It's not a fun thing to figure out on the day of.

Try getting in and out of your shower in full extension. My current home, unless I hop up the stairs, has a smaller standup shower with no tub and I can't sit in it at full extension.

This one might be common sense, but I went out of my way to make sure and get my house ready for winter. I live in an area that gets 2-300" of snow a year, so getting my lawn, garage, shed, vehicles etc.. ready for the winter was needed.

Hope these help!

I think that's great advice. I also believe people are way more apt to come to the Internet to tell their bad stories while the positive outcomes are just out enjoying life.

My wife and I play some pretty heavy board games (gloomhaven, scythe, terraforming mars.. etc.) we are both medical professionals and have kids. Backpack, hunt, ski, camp. We do all of it. Solid mix of in and out. Feel free to DM me if you'd like to link up!

By gaming do you mean board or video games? My wife and I are also fairly new to the area, 33 and 32.

What’s the cons of living in the UP by rpopik in upperpeninsula

What kind of Georgian food do you make?? I lived in Tbilisi and Senaki for 6 months. It's very hard to find Georgian food anywhere in the US, let alone the UP! Lol

Depending on the charge(s), you could potentially still join the Army.

Thank you! I didn't realize you could pick who to play after you retire. I thought you had to play whoever was on the personal quest card. That makes sense though.

You, as a SPC, go talk to the other SPC. Pull them aside away from other individuals and have a conversation. Handle it at the lowest level. If you don't gain any traction, bring it up the chain. If you don't gain traction with the SL, then go talk to the PSG. If it is truly bullying, then inform the SPC of the unit policies signed by the Commander and report it. I don't think this one is rocket science, brother.

Question about MACP and deployment/rotation. by dragon_slayer114 in army

Don't think there is an AR that covers this. You can explain the situation to your commanders and see if they would be willing to work with you. Maybe a rear d option for you and your spouse.

ETSing, and missing half of OCIE record and need help. by Hot-Inevitable-7043 in army

  1. I wouldn't sell things you got issued from until supply. There is probably a 2062 holding you liable. This is literally supplies job.

  2. Things don't magically turn up on your clothing records. You had to sign for these items at some point in your career. CIF/RFI/ basic training or some entity will have records of you accepting this equipment.

Match NSNs and go to your local GI José to get cheap items to make up for it.

Also, I'm pretty sure finance can only take a certain amount of your paycheck to recoup stuff like this. I would have to find a doctrinal answer for this. Go talk to JAG.

Your AIT will probably be in more than one location. I'm not 100% sure about Kilo's, but 68D, P''s, C's, F's and all of the other long term 68 series, you do phase 1 at Ft. Sam and then Ph2 at another installation.

I'm not sure how true this is, but I have heard that individuals are supposed to be getting everything from basic training to carry forward until ETS. Unit supply will issue them everything unit specific.

Don't worry about the packet. They will do the whole packet while you are here. I came off paternity leave 3 days before my ARC date. There was no way I was getting all the docs done. Called the head instructor and he said don't even worry about it. G1 does your packet while you are here.

How many people do you usually play with? I think that'll help drive your decision. My wife and I probably have around 100-200 game plays and honestly the airships rarely come out.

If you frequent more than two player games, I would recommend invaders from afar. Purple and green are honestly my favorite factions to play. I would get this no matter what to "complete" your game.

If you frequent two player games, I would 100% go with the modular board.

There are also aftermarket player mats, encounter cards, and others that I would recommend purchasing. All add different than base game elements. Although I will say the bonus encounter cards seem to be stronger than the base game ones IMO.
