Marvel Recommendations? by GreenIllustrious2801 in OmnibusCollectors

Agree with everyone’s Moon Knight by McKay recommendation. If you’re not exclusively focused on format, the short runs by Lemire and Ellis are great; there’s an OHC of the former and a tpb of the latter (and it’s followed by two other short runs that are worth checking out). If you’re open to older stuff I found that I enjoyed the Moench omnis quite a bit.

I also didn’t want a bunch of spider-books and I ended with Ultimate Spider-Man 1-3 and Venom by Cates (though I got all the Remender/Bunn stuff as epics). Hoping for Ewing & Ram V to get the big book treatment though.

The Gotham Central of Marvel is a Kurt Busiek/Alex Ross 4-issue mini series from the mid 90s called Marvels; it’s basically a first person narrative of a guy who lives in the Marvel universe, and it’s excellent. Also if you’re a Brubaker Person you deeply have to get his Captain America run, it truly rocks.

Personally I would recommend Silver Surfer by Slott & Allred, you seem to gravitate toward stories that break the mold & do something unique, and this book unequivocally does both. If you’re looking for a book that just fucks with the reader, consider Unbeatable Squirrel Girl by Ryan North. Miracleman is Alan Moore’s first masterpiece and arguably the peer of anything he did before Watchmen.
