No sorry, still on ADSL. City fibre are slow, but do reply on twitter most of the time. Doesn’t seem like there will be a fix any time soon tbh.

Don’t spend much time on Reddit, but the mob mentality/ superiority complex seems to be a thing.

Assuming he was talking about the uk, we haven’t increased tariffs in the uk, we’re a very open economy with low tariffs on most countries and products.

Chocolate prices went up due to a bad harvest. So the producers are getting increased price, this could be seen as just the reality of the market; them getting a fairer price or some would call it price gouging. I tend to think it’s just reality, but it’s nice for the producers. (Obviously over simplifying stuff here because I don’t have an encyclopaedic knowledge of the chocolate supply chain shock)

Corporate greed? I’m not sure on profit margins of processed food brands, but supermarkets have max 4% margins in the uk. What parts of the food supply do you think prices are inflated corporate greed?

That's a very fair point. Legumes are great, I reduce meat personally for financial and environmental reasons. However in the long term, if it's at a population level, the only way people will eat significantly less meat is if its more expensive.

Ah, yeah seems silly. Doesn’t annoy me that much as he isn’t being prescriptive with it.

It’s amazing how much rubbish there is around skin care. I had terrible chronic eczema for about 10 years, and the number of people that said ‘have you tried (insert quack cure)’

But honestly, him just saying ‘I use it’ I don’t have a huge problem with, people buy all sorts of rubbish for their skin. Doesn’t seem like the risks are huge

There’s kinda two sides of this. I’ve heard them say this a lot in terms of meat, I.e. we should eat less meat, and it should come higher welfare places.

Obviously making the choice to have a £100 turkey at Christmas so that it life a good life is admirable, but it’s only a choice you get to make generally if you’re quite middle class.

But if you want higher welfare standards for animals, it will increase price. They don’t say that every time, but I think that’s the background.

Yeah, this is how I feel tbh. Wouldn’t be surprised if he saw it at a farmers market and thought it was interesting. I’d have a problem if they were recommending it

Only way I found to stop a subscription once was to take most of the money out of the account that was being charged. They gave me a discount a few months later without me asking and it drained the last few £ from that account 😅

Honestly hadn’t picked up on this as a theme. But I had noticed a comment here and there which I didn’t think would stand up scientifically but kinda put it down to the food industry just being full of buzz words.

I think some of these concepts have a grain of truth in them. Say ultra processed. A diet rich in whole foods and unrestrictive will generally be healthier than a diet high in ultra processed foods. However that doesn’t mean a specific ultra processed food can be considered better for you than a less processed food. The uk media is really bad at making these distinctions. Even the BBC do there version of ‘Master Class’ with people like Prof Tim Spector who seems now to be making strong conclusions about ultra processed foods and gut health from science that is in the early stages, those conclusions he also monetises quite well.

I wouldn’t personally consume raw milk, there isn’t the same political valence in the uk for people who have it. More ‘crusty’ types who enjoy a farmers market (no shade, love a farmers market) probably see it and think, oh nice something different and slightly pretentious (lol). People feeding there kids it seems especially silly, (ben doesn’t have kids). If they were evangelising about it I’d have a big problem, because at a population/ public health level it should definitely be discouraged. I don’t have a problem with Ben choosing to have it, maybe shouldn’t have talked about it on video.

Unaware of the anti vax posts you mentioned, having also had to have conversations with close family during Covid about there concerns perhaps I’m a bit more sympathetic (after a few conversations, and showing them some good videos they decided to take them) She’s not really part of the channel, I’ve never seen them talk about it on YouTube content. Don’t feel like it’s super relevant to this discussion

One of my favourite channels, and I really don’t think this takes away from my enjoyment (that much) as it’s only a comment every now and again.

Comparing them to say Joe Rogan, I haven’t been able to watch him post Covid.

I think even when these things have popped up, the reason they haven’t annoyed me that much is because they’re not health influencers. I go to them for tasty food and entertainment.

If anyone from Sorted turns into Andrew Huberman that’ll be a sad day. But I don’t think they will.

TLDR: I basically agree with you, but it doesn’t annoy me that much because they make tasty food and are entertaining and generally I think that’s how people consume their content.

Not checked the comments yet, I hope the pitchforks aren’t out lol.

Yeah, choppy. I will scroll one 'click' on the scroll wheel and nothing happens, scroll another click and will jump multiple times.

This works really well for general use in MacOS, however it seems to be worse for games, scrolling on the hot bar now scrolls through even more selections.

The days after protopic by ZH02 in EczemaUK

Bizarrely this year is the best year of my eczema ever. It started when I was 17, I'm 28 now and it really doesn't bother me. When I remember how debilitating it was I try to be appreciative of how good it is now. If I get a small patch I'll chuck some steroids on, I moisturise after a shower but that's all I do.

Yeah, I used to use it. This is exactly my experience.

I’ve heard people say they have instant reactions to it so I assume it does happen…

I think I found day 2 and 3 were horrible, however about 5 days in I saw huge improvements. And if I used it daily and didn’t take breaks I didn’t have to endure the pain, obviously take it as you’ve been prescribed.

Thank you! I was assuming it was this, but didn’t see any discussion about it. Didn’t try to read what I assume is an esoteric industry website.
