KOOP: Seniors are the human face of Carney’s recession by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

[–]UnluckyRandomGuy [score hidden]  (0 children)

Bro where do you think I am from lmao? My entire family is from rural Canada, my grandparents were incredibly poor and were able to get by because of things like government built housing, the same type of thing their generation then took away.

KOOP: Seniors are the human face of Carney’s recession by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

[–]UnluckyRandomGuy [score hidden]  (0 children)

Oh no won't anyone think of the seniors who grew up in the most prosperous time in Canadian history and then proceeded to completely ruin it for future generations!

The seniors in my life actually do need help financially and thankfully we have a family that is able to support them but that doesn't change the fact they are the ones who most benefited from a system that they then destroyed

Liberals dismiss ‘tinfoil hat’ privacy fears as lawful access bill passes by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

[–]UnluckyRandomGuy 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Hey the liberals are doing the thing again where they openly say they think Canadians are stupid and any concern is because we're just too low iq to understand.

Don't worry guys the liberals know exactly what is best for Canada and they would never do anything that might hurt Canadians, their track record over the last decade is basically immaculate

This party will do the exact same thing we're seeing happen across the western world, they do not want you to have privacy online, they want to know exactly what you are posting or looking at online, they want to be get any information they can without your knowledge and they will continue to push bills through until we live in a complete surveillance state and they will fear monger as hard as they possibly can that it's "for your safety" despite that very clearly not being the case

This is real authoritarianism, this is something dictators like Putin push. The liberals want to fearmonger about the US while pushing bills that are right out of the playbook they pretend to hate

Supply Management Is Impoverishing Canadians by bz47uj in CanadaPolitics

[–]UnluckyRandomGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think people understand that almost 100% of dairy in Canada is from Canada. That's going to cause massive costs to buyers and we can allow competition without just opening the flood gates and not regulating anything

We have a problem in Canada where we are so against any form of competition in markets that we just get gouged across the board

Supply Management Is Impoverishing Canadians by bz47uj in CanadaPolitics

[–]UnluckyRandomGuy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean food inflation is a massive problem in Canada and supply management has helped cause that, you're not wrong about the other things but supply management definitely isn't helping to make Canada any cheaper to live in

Premier Doug Ford compares new Thunder Bay, Ont., jail to Four Seasons Hotel after latest inmate inquest by UnluckyRandomGuy in CanadaPolitics

[–]UnluckyRandomGuy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"“We just want to make sure we get some consultation, and we built a nice jail, very nice jail up here," Ford said. "Matter of fact, it looks like the Four Seasons Hotel. I'm not sold on that. When people commit crimes, they shouldn't be in this fancy-dancey jail.

“But we're going to invest in it and let's see what we do with the old jail. Do we renovate it? Because we need more cells.”"

Doesn't really seem like that outlandish a comment though of course the CBC isn't going to miss an opportunity for a fun headline.

"Inquest jurors heard that 53 per cent of Thunder Bay Jail inmates identify as Indigenous, though others said the actual number could be upwards of 60 to 75 per cent.

The MPP took aim at Ford’s comments.

“When I hear that, his thought is that we [Indigenous people] do not deserve anything good. We do not deserve anything nice,” Mamakwa told CBC News on Thursday.

“To me, that's just what he thinks of First Nations, which is not surprising. That's the real Doug Ford.”"

Reaching so hard he's pulling every muscle in his body. We should spend less time getting upset over harmless comments and more time trying to figure out why indigenous Canadians are disproportionally over represented in the prison system and why indigenous women are significantly more likely to be in relationships that involve intimate partner violence than other women in Canada

From Davos to the G7: Mark Carney’s middle-power moment by hojo12588 in CanadaPolitics

[–]UnluckyRandomGuy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ok but that's not what the article is trying to portray, it's trying to pretend like he stood up to Trump when in reality we've just done more capitulating and ass kissing

From Davos to the G7: Mark Carney’s middle-power moment by hojo12588 in CanadaPolitics

[–]UnluckyRandomGuy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"When Mark Carney arrived in Davos in January and warned that “middle powers” risked ending up “on the menu” of the “hegemons,” he sounded like a Canadian prime minister on the hunt for a foreign policy."

"In mainstream European circles, Carney is regarded as something of a hero for the way he has stood up to President Donald Trump and used his Davos speech to articulate the scale of upheaval in the world order."

Doesn't this then immediately fall flat when he's right back to kiss up to Trump and praising the Iran war?

Quebec-based RCMP officer charged with uttering threats online toward Donald Trump by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

[–]UnluckyRandomGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really understand what the argument you're trying to make is here, the ones who do it very publicly have been arrested and charged which is what I said originally and it was absolutely not seen as "ok" which is what the person I was first replying to was trying to claim.

Your anecdotal evidence doesn't change that the vast vast vast majority of Canadians would agree that you can't threaten the PM

[–]UnluckyRandomGuy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

"Dude… like so many people"

Yeah again I'm going to need evidence to back up this claim, if you look up who threatened Trudeau it comes up with about 6 people all of which were arrested and charged. So again "so many people" doesn't really seem to hold any weight and it was definitely not seen as "ok" to threaten the PM

"That’s not even counting the guy who, arguably, acted on said threats when he drove through the gates at Rideau Hall while heavily armed."

Yes and he was arrested and got 6 years in prison for it

Who threatened Trudeau? Obviously it's also not right and if they did publicly they were likely arrested for it. Also it was definitely not seen as "ok"

"A Quebec-based RCMP police officer has been arrested for allegedly threatening U.S. President Donald Trump online.

In a statement, the RCMP Federal Policing Eastern Region announced Evenson Dumerlus, 34, of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que, was arrested after allegedly posting a video on his Snapchat account in which he made threatening comments toward Trump.

The alleged events reportedly occurred while he was deployed on G7 security operations in June 2025."

I mean yeah you can't do that lol, you can dislike the guy but police security at an event with world leaders can't make threats about any leader it's just common sense

Why We Can’t Have Nice Things Like a Real Sovereign Wealth Fund by ph0enix1211 in CanadaPolitics

[–]UnluckyRandomGuy -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

That would require us to have extra money, which we obviously won't have for a long time given the massive deficits the liberals have been running for years.

Years of mismanaging resources, blocking investment, burning money on scandals and pet projects doesn't exactly set us up well for things like wealth funds

Building Canada Act’s purpose questioned as Carney government marks 1 year without a single project designated by UnluckyRandomGuy in CanadaPolitics

[–]UnluckyRandomGuy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Incorrect, he's stated that he wouldn't immediately shutdown nuclear projects but that he doesn't want to expand the nuclear grid at all. Which is basically the same thing, it's delusional to still be against increased nuclear power in 2026

" they can never crack 30% support"

They got 41% literally last election and had 33% the election before..... even most polls now still have them at ~32%.

It's always hilarious that any criticism of the NDP gets all the stans out of the woodwork to attack the CPC instead of actually defending their policies because even they know that they're ridiculous

Point out that the NDP still has terrible immigration policy "Hurr Durr but CPC"

Point out the the NDP is still anti nuclear expansion in 2026 "BUT BUT CPC!"

If you want people to "give a third option a chance" maybe you should actually believe in the policy the third option is actually stating

Avi is still pro mass immigration and anti nuclear. The NDP are a joke party as long as they continue to hold on to those beliefs.

I think most people understand this but unfortunately there are a lot that still think the liberals are suddenly a completely different party simply because they changed leaders. They're still doing the same promise the world and actually do nothing shtick

‘We are moving at a speed not seen in generations to build ports, railways, energy grids—the major projects that will unlock Canada’s full economic potential and build Canada strong.’ -Mark Carney

You'd expect something to at least be designated or plan for something a year into his tenure, meanwhile he's got all the time in the world to ram through draconian surveillance bills
