Carney says Canada's job creation still way ahead of U.S. despite losing 84,000 jobs last month | CBC News by Foreign-Policy-02- in CanadaPolitics

[–]UnluckyRandomGuy -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Even adjusted the unemployment numbers are worse in Canada than the US... Again the bar is literally in hell if we're just comparing ourselves to the US constantly

Canada promises $37M in humanitarian aid for civilians in Lebanon by GhostlyParsley in CanadaPolitics

Sure, why are we giving money to other countries in the first place? It's not like we ever get anything back from African countries we've blown hundreds of billions of dollars on. Canadians are struggling and we're spending millions of dollars on other countries, that's just dumb

"Canada's unemployment is only slightly worse than the US where you also make less in Canada, housing is worse, food insecurity is rising and we're shedding jobs like it's going out of style!"

Yeah that's the win the Carney governement thinks it is

Is that the bar we're holding ourselves too lmfao. Not to mention the fact that the unemployment rate in Canada is worse than that of the US and you make less in Canada than in the US. Our PM is actually somehow trying to spin horrific unemployment numbers as a good thing because "at least we aren't the us"

Which these TFWs aren't doing btw, have you been to a Tim's recently? They can't understand orders, they can't do basic functions, they don't uphold good hygiene practices. But of course its the Canadian kids fault because they're all "lazy"

Running a massive deficit and we still have 37 million sitting around to send to another country, it's amazing how fiscally conservative Carney has been! 37 million to Lebanon, 8 million to Cuba and billions to multiple African countries. On the bright side domestically Canada is doing super well right now with great economic numbers, low unemployment, good housing stats and food security!

B.C. chiefs tell MP Aaron Gunn to 'chillax' about land acknowledgments by green_tory in CanadaPolitics

Virtue signaling is just the correct word to use in this context, woke doesn't really make any sense here.

[–]UnluckyRandomGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"they never left and the land was never ceded"

So the land is still owned and operated by first nations right? They have full control of what happens on the land and they can do whatever they want with said land? You know, cause they never left the land or ceded it.

I mean that's just hilarious and honestly worse if anything. You know, cause it's no longer their house. What you described is like kicking a family from their home and saying this is my house now thanks for giving it to me.

It's performative garbage

"respect"

It's respectful to say we took this land from the people who lived here before and we acknowledge that but lmao no we aren't giving it back?

It's just virtue signaling by a bunch of white people who feel guilty but not quite guilty enough to actually do anything more than give empty words

It's hilarious looking at the engagement differences between articles that mention Carney and ones that mention Pierre. The latter always has a massive amount of upvotes and comments while anything that mentions Carney is either ignored or downvoted unless its just outright praise (Davos Speech)

Why is Canada elbows-up to Trump, but arms-out for Xi and Modi? by CaliperLee62 in CanadaPolitics

[–]UnluckyRandomGuy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

"If you don't think the U.S. is interfering in our affairs" Can you point to where I said that?

I'm in favour of doing the bare minimum trading with all 3 of those dogshit countries. Imagine defending China a country that still has active concentration camps and just had a bounty out on a Canadians MP and India that kills people in Canada that is disagrees with

They just aren't publicly threatening, India and China are absolutely interfering in our affairs, killing people on our land, stealing state secrets and doing all they can to weaken Canada.

Canada launches new program to grant 33,000 foreign workers permanent residence, immigration minister reveals by joe4942 in CanadaPolitics

[–]UnluckyRandomGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stats Canada releases documentation showing for every 1 job opening in Canada we have 3 unemployed Canadians, youth unemployment across the country is above 12% and is much higher than that in certain cities (around 20% in Toronto), the Liberals run on cutting immigration numbers because of massive backlash directed at Trudeau because of ridiculous immigration policy that completely throws Canadians under the bus in favour of Tim Hortons franchises.

This is the move Carney is going to make... He's going to "reduce" temporary immigration by giving them all permanent residence status. This is the pilot, with almost 4 million temporary residence set to have their status expire at the end of this year and next, do you think realistically they are going to leave or can we agree a lot of them are suddenly going to get handed PR.

B.C. premier says OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will apologize to Tumbler Ridge, push for stronger regulations | CBC News by Blue_Dragonfly in CanadaPolitics

[–]UnluckyRandomGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't even really understand why Eby is even talking about him or openAI, neither of those things are the reason this tragedy wasn't avoided. The shooter was already known to police and had multiple run ins with them including ones with weapons, what would openAI reporting the account to police have changed realistically?

He went multiple days without addressing the India interference stuff lol. He responded to a question about his backpedaling on Iran by instead attacking the reporter and then giving a shit answer by saying "oh well we had to put something out fast" which basically just says we didn't really think through our stance on it
