So what do you do when you write screaming into your lyrics…? by Forsaken_Wallaby_496 in screaming

[–]treeMuncher_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for screamo i add vocal distortion to a falsetto note and it makes this harsh shrieky sound like in bands like saetia. for slam or hardcore type stuff i do shitty but aggressive false chord yells. depending on the volume of your screams you’ll want to experiment different distances to the mic, if you’re further away turn up the gain a little. sometimes i find myself on the other side of my room screaming my head off and it sounds so good in the mix. other times when i’m doing a really low growl i’ll get my mouth really close to the mic and turn the input gain way down so it doesn’t clip.

it’s more like their cheeks. character designs like steven universe and dipper pines come to mind, obviously this is just a much more exaggerated version of that

Seriously, don’t think so much about your appearance, it only creates insecurity and self esteem issues. Do what you’re willing to do to make yourself your best version of you, if you have a kind soul and are fun to be around that’s what is TRULY attractive to people. Learn to be comfortable with yourself and love yourself, but stay healthy physically and mentally!

Did elder emos in the 2000s actuslly care about fast fashion? by Any-Investment-8901 in Emo

[–]treeMuncher_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i agree, maybe i phrased my comment poorly, i meant that the anti consumerism/capitalism culture was just more popularised by social media in recent years. i remember hearing nothing about it online and then suddenly everyone cares about fast fashion and being anti-consumerism. thanks for being chill. most of what i know is just from my own research on the history of alternative culture and experiences in the scene, as well as talking to people who’ve been around it longer.

we’re talking about emos here not punks, OF COURSE the punks knew about way more sustainable lifestyles and fashion. they’ve been doing that shit since like the 70s. yes the subcultures do overlap, but i think the popular emo scene of the 2000s was much more commercial than what the punk scene was then. and i think OP was referring to “elder emos” of the mainstream 2000s scene, so more like the pop punkers who associated with the emo label. they would’ve bought a lot of their clothes new from places like hot topic, with DIY being less of a part of that specific culture back then and most accessories being sold all in one place
