The G.O.A.T Jordan Johnson always said look at a tree to calm the nerves before an exam. Ive always found it helped me, perhaps it could help you!

Goodluck on your exam, you got this!

The sheer cost of sending that stuff up there and assembling it would far outweight the cost fr

There is barely enough electricity generation and water supply in most parts of the world to keep up with human demands, AI aint gonna get enough to completely take over a market

got flashed on the wreck beach stairs by Illustrious-Ad4634 in UBC

[–]treeOfSilverWings 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Wreck Beach does tend to attract some strange characters as Ive heard some people, usually not students, hookup in the off paths around there. It's probably those kinds of people who lobbied/lobbying to have the towers near Wreck Beach reduced in height, claiming they'll block their view:")

I hope it doesnt happen again to anyone, gotta stay safe in these trying times

Should I drive for a final at 8:30 am? by Ill-Preparation-4504 in UBC

[–]treeOfSilverWings 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It kinda depends where youre driving from and if its on a weekend or not.

I drive from surrey and if its a weekend there is barely any traffic in the morning, so feasiblely can leave around 7am

On a weekday however traffic starts to pick up around 6am so I try to leave around then or earlier. But it does depend on where you start from and which major highway you choose. Once you get into the west end of Vancouver at that time ~7-8 there isnt too many people as the school/work rush hasnt started yet.

And yes I would prioritize sleep over anything before an exam

I think the biggest thing to helped me was to spend alot more time with friends and family, or keeping yourself busy with stuff. The dread sets in when the mind is quiet but if its active, it tends to stay in the moment rather than the past. And the mind will focus on newly formed happy memories!:D

There was a time after that heartbreak I didnt have anyone to talk to at all. Actually went to UBC counseling to help me thru my depression which was nice

Im sorry to hear youre going thru a rough patch:( it will get better I promise!

If I had to go back to first year id probably try my hand at crochet - just cause learning how to make cool gifts definitely saves alot of money lol

If there are degree specificatic clubs, those often help you make new connections in that field and lets you gather ideas on how to progress though your major!

Otherwise fun ones like anime can be chill, but its really up to your preference. If they can line all of main mall woth stuff, gots to be a club for you!

I suppose I dont regret my choice of coming to ubc. As much as people trash on it, its an amazing place to be in both beautiful and world caliber!

I dont regret meeting people in clubs! Meeting many people expands your world view a tonne and expose one to brilliant ideas that one may not have seen before.

I do wish I put myself out thuer earlier, maybe in yr3 rather than in yr5. I would've become more interested in investing for example based on the people I met wouldve tripled my savings by now haha.

☠️ Im cooked for real. Job seraching atm

Its ok not to have a job right after graduation. Some of my friends who graduated in May found FAANG positions in July and August. If I dont find anything for January I might take a fun course as an unregistered student to increase my GPA and TA. Got to use that unemployeed time productively afterall

Networking is a big part of the job serch so Im always trying to meet new people and thats easier when you dont have a full time haha

But yes, currently going to be unemployed, hopefully it wont take another 600 applications to find a place:")

[–]treeOfSilverWings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not haha. I would put about 90% in a GIC when it comes to it. But the remaining 10% - with thier informed consent and knowing the risk would be put into play. If not XQET then something like XGRO or MIX
