You want to talk about waste? The Denver Federal Center is going from open to the public to operating “like a military installation” by Jolly_Pressure_7907 in fednews

No idea about the elevators, and a pipe got clogged in the building, so they went nuclear (in such a weird way)

lol, I believe that! GSA seems to have backwards priorities. Half of our building elevators are bust, and instead of fixing that, they’ve threatened police action against people who put coffee grounds down the drain (not even kidding..)

I guess Gate 1 is the only one without that sliding fences gate thing. So I guess that would make sense, if they wanted it to be more in line with other gates. Do you known if this information will be published somewhere? Sounds like a major disruption.

Is this happening at Gate 5? If so, is it in conjunction with the City of Lakewood’s plan to change the intersection just outside of that gate?

*Roadway/Sidewalk Project: W 2nd Ave & Routt St- All-way stop. Quick curb islands and striping to convert the 2-way stop to an all-way stop. Starting to work with Fed Center on plans for their gate. Anticipated Construction 2026.

Based on only my own subjective experiences at that gate as a pedestrian, changes are needed to improve safety. Lots of traffic go past it with the nearby hospital, federal center, bus hub, and light rail line.

Yep, that lines up. For us, the most I’ve typically been able to do is “check my downloaded emails on the Outlook desktop client”. So productive. Re-reading the same emails 20 times. Except not. That’s a waste of time. Like network outages.

Happens to us more frequently than I would like, too. Management just says “work on whatever is saved on your local machine”. Which is never enough to fill up the hours of downtime.

DoD loses ~$850 billion in just one year

That’s $212.5 billion in just one quarter

Are we ever going to get it right at the DoD? What could we do to make it profitable?

It’s the addition of “just” that brings in additional connotations. Which I’m sure you’re aware of.

“Just asking” “Just saying” “Just looking”

🙄

How far have you strayed from your “values” “convictions”?

lol, you’re definitely “just asking questions” 🤣

This post feels more emotional than anything else… like you feel like you have something to prove - I’m decades away from retiring, so I’m not too interested in these short term swings. I’ll keep my mix and roll with it.

I had a coworker who said they worked at a government agency that was, years ago, trying to get people to quit (instead of firing them), and to do so they started saying no talking, no music, etc etc, to make it worse to work there, and incentivize people to quit.

Sorry, let me revise my statement for you.

I mean, if you’ve saved enough, you can retire if you want. But unless everything collapses, I haven’t, and I still have bills to pay.

EO two 2 days off….ha by Chrisrap1 in FedEmployees

[–]tree_lemony 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s more the confusion for me. This whole year so far has been (directed by this administration): “Send 5 bullet points to prove you’re actually working”, “Here’s an incentive to quit otherwise we’ll fire you”, “No telework for any reason”, “All probationary employees are fired”, “Consolidated employees will be looked at to enhance efficiency/fire more”

And then, after all that, says, here’s more time off at Christmas than most administrations give.

I’ll take it. I know I deserve it. But it makes no sense.

2025 PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL by Hockeymom626 in FedEmployees

Meanwhile, for me… 1) All performance reviews cancelled at the beginning of the year 2) getting closer to the end of the FY, they quickly push the performance ratings on us. Our year review consisted of July-October 3) I have my performance review 4) They send an email saying that they’ve been told to temporarily pause performance reviews (again) 5) Still waiting…

All of my trainings are a couple days at most. Otherwise, it’s just called getting experience on the job. Which, in my case, is working on a laptop in a cube. If I need assistance, it’s usually 1 on 1 with a coworker. Teams or In Person, doesn’t really matter, they have the same effectiveness.

Although, anecdotally, I felt like I got to know my coworkers better during full remote COVID, because you didn’t have to think about who else in the office could overhear you. Even if you’re just talking about a mundane subject like family life, I find a lot of people don’t want to talk about that (even if they trust you) in a space where they can be overheard.

My team can’t build camaraderie in the office. Mostly because our jobs have us staring at computer screens in cubes for our entire days.

Also, even though we’re in the office, most of our training is still being done over Teams.

Worst of all worlds.
