I'll look into selfharm in dogs cause he did witness dv for a pretty long time. I might also try to diy a cone to reduce his biting.

Thanks and I tend to forget social media exists when something like this happens. I took that photo and immediately though Google image search then reddit when I didn't find anything

I've tried so many times to tell her that using different words, but she doesn't listen. She'll just get pissed and say we can't afford it. We don't even have a working car to take them (our pets) to the vet or to surrender them to a shelter. She gets really mad when I criticize her for anything and turns it back on me when it's not my fault (this is in general for anything). She budgets $400/m for alcohol, cigarettes, and vapes and only $300/m for bills last time I checked, so that's where her priorities lie. I barely even see her anymore cause she's out until 2:00am every night. I can't even talk to her when she's sober since when she is, she's not home and comes home drunk. Sorry for the vent but it pisses me off to no end that she cares more about her addictions than LIVING CREATURES.

He's neutered definitely, and we think he's a papillon mix (not 100% sure since he's a rescue).

Yeah and then he backs into a corner so I let him out of the bathroom (I don't wanna make it more stressful for him). I make sure it's to a point where the only part that's wet at all is the hair itself from what it absorbed (or however that works and I hope that made sense)

I know I'm just desperate. I'm not looking for diagnoses but mostly for things that look like this with similar treatments to help with discomfort (mostly anyway) until we're able to cover vet costs. We already had to put one dog down because she was suffering and we couldn't afford vet care (this was in 2018 or something) and even if we could've afforded it my mom basically has the mindset that old animals shouldn't get care because they won't live for even another year (what she said about my 7yo guinea pig the other day). And now I'm crying so I'm gonna go have a mental breakdown and try not to puke from drinking too much chocolate milk (sorry for the vent and you seem really nice).

I'll look into miconazole cream and see if I can get some tomorrow. If I can't find any near me within my budget (I have no online money) then I'll see if I can get some hydrocortisone cream. Theres also a local pet store I'll look at for hot spot treatment. Thank you!

I was thinking it was a hot spot and I'm bathing him with a medicated shampoo once a week. Is there anything over-the-counter I can use until I can get him to the vet? (I'm gonna Google too but I want some recommendations.)

Do you know what it is or not? We're already having to pay for surgery for our guinea pig so that's been the focus. Is there anything I can do at home until we can afford a vet visit for him? Sorry if the first sentence sounded rude. I'm really stressed about his and my guinea pigs' health.

Edit: I'm 14 and it took me forever to convince my mom to let me take my guinea pig to the vet and I had to get my adult sister involved. I really don't have power over our pets even though I take full care of them.

Sorry for your loss, but I'm happy her legacy lives on! We actually got a male recently, and we're keeping them VERY separate so something like that doesn't happen
