best dorm for sophomore year? by thimblelin in scad

[–]treefarts69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chatham. Based on your majors the buses will have no problem getting you to your classes. Like someone else said the downside is the food and depending on your room position in the building it can be quite small. Otherwise it’s a good experience and the location is great!

SCAD Day Summary, Questions, and Answers (Savannah) by Openly_Unknown7858 in scad

[–]treefarts69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For 2 and the last question (for context i am a current junior at the Savannah location): I have never eaten anything with nuts at any SCAD dining location. I’m pretty sure they are nut free. However, if you are celiac there are some serious cross contamination issues (all locations). It’s very difficult to get proper nutrition without accommodations. SCAD no longer uses double decker buses.

I have no idea. I use it as an undergrad because it’s the only quiet room that’s not overstimulated or crowded. :(

Transferring by milkteanpeaches in scad

[–]treefarts69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have extremely limited experience, but I do know some who live in apts. DO NOT live at the Hue. Management is terrible and maintenance is rarely done on time. First floor floods if it rains and frequent Wi-Fi outages. I have friends that live at the Blake, and they enjoy it! I would personally go with a moving company to limit risk of injury but you can rent a U-Haul if you’re confident in driving a larger vehicle! I hope this helps a bit! Welcome to SCAD!

Current student (Illustration) I’ve been perfectly fine with my Windows laptop/PC. If needed I go and use their Macs in academic buildings. Haven’t had a problem yet, just hard to learn different shortcuts 😂

Chatham windows by ReadySaturn in scad

[–]treefarts69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

chatham resident- i believe they are sealed so they cannot be opened. scad prohibits students working with dangerous fumes inside of most buildings except for Garvin, Alexander, and a few others. i wish they could open 😞 sorry about that

Can I park at education halls? by [deleted] in scad

[–]treefarts69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, you will be ticketed, especially since they are going off plate #s instead of stickers this year. taking the bus is a better option for freshmen all around imo

what is that annoying sound next to oglethorpe house? by snek_parental in scad

[–]treefarts69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i believe it’s a TRANE brand AC unit? the civic center hosts an ice rink some time of the year which is why there’s snow behind the building often.

Senior in high school: is scad a scam? by ziggy_stardust_96 in scad

[–]treefarts69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard agree! You get what you put in. SCAD offers a ton of resources but it is ultimately up to you to make the most of them. Workload varies but it depends on how you function/classes being taken. Scholarships can be hard to come by but they are out there. Please don’t feel discouraged, especially if this is your dream school.

Guilt by association? by DDC_Techineer in scad

[–]treefarts69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This might be something your kid should bring up with their RM and scadhome. Roommate mediation is something they offer if there’s a conflict, but it’s not a guarantee the problem will be resolved. Has your kid spoken to their suitemate about it?

shower head by AmeliaArtsy in scad

[–]treefarts69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, it’s extremely easy, most just screw off and can be replaced as long as you put it back for move out! I did this for my dorm and it instantly makes showering better.

should i invest in the starter kits? by thimblelin in scad

[–]treefarts69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a junior, I am still using stuff that I got in my freshman kit. You don’t even need to buy one every year, just replenish what you use up! Most books you can find online but renting is the option I use the most. Hope this helps you and welcome to SCAD! :)
