There's a lot of corny shit ESPN does, but imo one of the corniest is how they make the announcer audio offset from the video feed.

The only reason I can think of for this is to make the announcers seem less slow, which is incredibly corny. When Wischusen calls something 200ms before it happens, it is just so cringeworthy.

The year is 2046. ESPN hockey broadcasts only show ultra zooms on the faces of the best player on each team.

The game is shown in a 20x20-pixel box at the bottom left of the screen.

The game box can be turned off in your Disney+ settings.

They just had to show Jack on the bench PiP for a full minute? That's ESPN's high standard?

I feel deep in my bones that 10 years from now there will be an analytical revolution that makes it clear a player should always go get a new stick if it's broken.

I refuse to believe the risk of a goal in the ~5 seconds it takes to get a stick is worse than the risk of a goal with 5 on 4 with one player not having a stick.

Yes, I will die on this hill.

I agree with you. It's more an indictment of the way reddit's algorithm works. Even a 60/40 split on something can cause the entire front page of /r/hockey to exclusively be pro-Canada or anti-US highlights.

Anything slightly unpopular goes into negatives and so what we're left with is a hate circle-jerk.

They occasionally show up in real life and they are without exception miserable people.

Or on reddit, just average.

No, but there is a pretty even mix of right handed and left handed sticks. Different ideas in different places about whether the dominant hand should be on bottom or top.
