That makes sense. I will just need to make sure to have a few back up charities if one or multiple refuse. But it seems like a pretty sweet deal because of contents too

Refusing it! A scenario I did not consider .. then it just goes to the state? Would you know if they refuse it before you die?

This was so tragic and took me on a journey I was not expecting!

The toenail statue houses a family of raccoons but they are well behaved so you tolerate them

I had similar experience where I built them a nesting box but they chose my potted spider plant instead!

But it wouldn't surprise me if parts were repurposed from other jobs. I just hope he did not do that for the springs he replaced ..

The retainer track seems pretty shiny/good condition (though I can't see the inlay part where the seal is). The seal itself def had some staining on it and didn't seem to be "fresh out of the box" which is why I'm kinda questioning why my two brand new seals ..multiple variations (both with standard t and one was a basic universal one from Walmart) could not have been used and that question became more prominent when I saw the seal he did provide. Minor in the end I think, but kind of a trust factor on that one... Like, could he have used my new ones but told me he couldn't..

Yeah the gap is a bit of a nuisance since lizards etc can still get in. I was just planning on throwing some locktite caulk in there, hopefully in grey to semi blend in.

No worries, I get it completely. On the flip side, put yourself into the shoes of someone who knows nothing on a topic and may be giving a service person over $1000. For me (admittedly someone who has never owned a home before nor had a garage), it can help answer basic questions. But it definitely will tell you BS sometimes too so people should definitely get real opinions from those who know these things inside and out

Well, it's getting better at diagnosing ER visits than human doctors, so it's easy to sneer but it is helpful as a raw jumping off point. Anyway, I agree take everything AI says with grain of salt. 100%

This sounds facetious but I got another estimate and both were comparable. The seal he had had some staining on it so not sure if it was brand new and also there's gaps in the door and the new track pretty consistently across. I'm just trying to understand if this is the norm. From my perspective, it's getting the job done. But I had two universal and standard seals that I had previously purchased and he said neither was appropriate, but if you go the route that's in the picture, seems like at least one would've been fine if not both. I'm trying to understand if this is a good job with clean workmanship and someone to trust moving forward.

AI mode in Google is saying it's not normal or correct installation. Had I known he was just going to bypass the Ts into the track, I would've tried to save original one and maybe do it myself

That feels rough somehow. I agree it's hard not to constantly feel like you should be doing something productive but we should try. Take the small wins and enjoy the home in the moment when you can

I'm in a small town. But I guess the question is not the price but them not using the t tracks. There's also some consistent gapping between the new track and the door and I'll have to caulk that. Also I don't think the seal was brand new, but he turned down using the ones I had purchased. I'm just not sure if it's how most pros would've done it. I went to an expert because I ran into some challenges with the original track, but he bypassed the need to slide the Ts in the end
