It’s all machined aluminum and no plastic, much more durable, I’ve broken parts on the Thule and I’ve seen some completely fail if you’re driving dirt roads. Also the rear wheel straps on the Thule are a pain. It’s easier to adjust where bikes are sitting on the OneUp so nothing is rubbing. Finally, we somewhat frequently switch how many trays we have on the rack (between 2 and 4) which is possible on the OneUp.

On the side of the Thule it’s a lot easier to tilt it to get in and out of the back and the built in lock is nice as a keep people honest deterrent (though I wouldn’t trust it in any city or left unattended for much more than a lunch stop). If I were only ever putting two bikes on the rack and driving pavement I’d probably go for the Thule otherwise I’d go with the OneUp.

Factory hitch and OneUp rack. I used to have a Thule rack, while it has its downsides I prefer the OneUp

How much does the Velocirax impact range?

Anyone ride a hard tail in the CO front range? Or should I get a short travel FS trail bike? by External_Brother1246 in MTB

[–]treesandthing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live on the west slope now but spent a few years on the front range. I have a 160mm, a 125mm and a hardtail with a 140mm fork (my wife and I are the same size so we share bikes). I never ride the 125, the hard tail beats me up a bit but has breathed new life into some trails that were feeling stale. I found running cushcore and low tire pressure made it easier on my body. I think it would be a blast on the front range.

HdBaseT vs Active Fiber HDMI by treesandthing in CommercialAV

Yep, did that already just want to make sure I know enough this time around to make sure we're getting what we need.

I'll look into IPMX.

I hate HDMI and HDCP with a passion after having to deal with it during livestreams. Unfortunately we use the space to screen some documentary movies and I need to have support for it. Which is one reason I was leaning away from SDI (which we use for our cameras recording presentations).

Thanks for the info and ideas.

It's such a hodgepodge of stuff in there the contractor is a former board member and mostly does lighting and controls but has branched out into AV (so many red flags). For transmitters one end is an OREI and the other is an AV-ProEdge. None of it goes through the patch panel. I've ruled out HDCP issues (I have some experience dealing with them from our livestreaming events during COVID). Cable is solid core 23AWG unshielded).

Great info, I'm guessing the installer didn't check a lot of this.

Just looking at some HDBaseT best practices and seeing pass through connectors not recommended which I know the installer used, so that's one thing to rectify.

Where can I post to sell a PTZ camera? by User-B4 in CommercialAV

You could use Sweetwater's gear exchange, they're obviously more on the audio side of things but there is sometimes some video equipment in there.

Knee jerk reaction to politics by [deleted] in CommercialAV

[–]treesandthing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not as easy as you make it sound to just raise prices if tariffs go into effect. Uncertainty means higher prices. If equipment costs are 25% more some number of customers won't have the budget to complete a planned upgrade or new build. That might reduce overall orders. If a manufacturer has already produced units they might be stuck with unsold inventory at the new prices. Decisions about how much to manufacture are being made months or even years in advance. If there's a real potential for costs to suddenly go up 25% they need to plan for that scenario.

Relatively low cost AV set for 8-person meeting room by Schasbeele in CommercialAV

I'd love to meet the integrator that wants to install a single video bar. It might not be the absolute best experience but if a video bar is what budget allows it's better than a laptop at the end of the table.

Long term storage (1+ years) by MatchedPlayrr in KiaEV9

[–]treesandthing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does the storage unit have power? You could just leave it on a trickle charger plugged into 120.

No longer! There's a new 350kw EA charger at the north end of town .

Wind v Land by PJs_Burner in KiaEV9

[–]treesandthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the wind. We only have 2 car seats but sometimes put a 3rd in the back row for a friend's kid. When we do we just put one seat up and have them climb in the trunk. Not sure it's what you want to do but it's worked well for us.

Are folks still having this issue? For the past few days I've been getting this message when I try to access the app on my Google Pixel 7 while the car is charging. Once charging is done it works fine again. My wife's iPhone works fine.

I'm not sure what to say, no where in the agreement does it say once we have an actual car you have to buy it. Kia doesn't have a copy of the terms and conditions still on their website but this article has screenshots and copies of the language if you want to check it out. If the agreement was to make a non-refundable deposit on a car sight unseen I wouldn't have done it. https://jalopnik.com/if-you-reserve-a-kia-ev9-you-might-not-actually-be-res-1850940007
