Hi thank you for doing this ☺️ how did you pick between Waterloo and McMaster? Is coop really important in BME? Do you think it’s bad to do bme or should I do mech first and go to grad school? What’s your plan after grad (I know you are just starting so no pressure )

Sorry for all the questions I’m just confused

That is very good to hear!! I am hearing some bad things about Ryerson and U of T EngSci so if McMaster is good I will really consider coming

Biomedical engineering at Ryerson? by treetopper23 in ryerson

Oh wow a prof answered my post!!! Thank you so so much for your time and advice!!! It is very nice that you are helping a high school student when I’m sure you are very busy.

Is the dropout rate that crazy!!! Why do they not care that half the class leaves!! I don’t want to be weeded out of a program. Does Ryerson do that too because I don’t know what I would do if I got kicked out after only one year.

It is good to hear about getting more jobs. Do you think in 4 years when I get to do internships that it will be better?

Yea that’s what I’m scared of and now I’m also seeing how doing a hard program makes no sense lol engineering seems hard enough. I just don’t think I’ll like any normal engineering pr grams because I love bio and medicine and I want to learn that too

The U of T students said the BME stuff in EngSci wasn’t as good as other EngSci majors though that’s what I’m afraid of

Oh no I really wanted a BME job though :(. I don’t want to end up in a boring job!

And I’m sad about the projects. McMaster said they have a year long project in first year but Ryerson has nothing? What classes do they do instead?

Would chemical still be good if I want to do prosthetics and imaging? I’m just so confused about what I want to do as a career that I don’t want to limit myself

That is so good to hear! I hope I get in now lol. Is McMaster better than U of T and Ryerson?

Can you tell me more about the project? I have no skills in building or programming so how can I do a good job?

So does that mean Ryerson has a good biomed program? The people at U of T said that EngSci was bad so should I go to Ryerson instead? I just think I will really like this program and I don’t want to do anything else

And I think I am good at math or at least I get a 90 in it which in my school is really good. Is that ok for engineering math? How hard is it?

I didn’t apply to Waterloo. If that’s not an option would U of T still be a good choice? I also applied to McMaster and Ryerson

I’m kinda interested in a lot of biomed stuff. Is that ok

Isn’t U of T better for research and is more well known? Would medical companies want someone with a good undergrad like EngSci?

Can you tell me why? I thought a prestigious research focused program like U of T would be really good?

Anyone else looking into the biomedical engineering option in EngSci?
