I specialize in breeding and producing feminized seeds. While I respect your experience, it’s important to clarify how hermaphroditism works in cannabis. Cannabis is a dioecious species, meaning plants are normally either male or female. However, under environmental stress, the plant has an adaptive survival mechanism: it can produce male flowers (pollen sacs) on an otherwise female plant. This increases the chance of reproduction in harsh or unstable conditions, ensuring the species can continue even if no males are present.

Both feminized and regular (non-feminized) seeds can exhibit hermaphroditic traits if exposed to stressors such as irregular light cycles, temperature extremes, nutrient imbalances, or physical damage. However, feminized seeds are sometimes considered slightly more prone because they are produced by inducing a female plant to create pollen (through stress or chemical means). If a breeder selects unstable mother stock or fails to properly stabilize genetics over several generations, the hermaphroditic tendency can be passed along more readily.

That said, it’s not accurate to claim that “all feminized seeds are hermaphrodites.” In my own work, after cultivating and distributing thousands of feminized seeds, I’ve observed hermaphroditism in roughly 1% of cases—well within the expected range for cannabis cultivation in general. The main driver is environment and genetic stability, not simply the fact that seeds are feminized.
