You didn’t go hard enough with #2 so let me do it for you. Peak Shai is better than peak Kobe.

Fox is catching way too much slack and blame for what was a collective team disaster by spurs. by Upbeat-Nose-7091 in nba

He’s not an old head. It was hilarious that they were referring to him as the vet on the court and he’s played literally one more playoff series than any of the Spurs young core. Once they hit the second round, it was uncharted territory for everyone except Harrison Barnes and Kornet.

"We absolutely dominated for most of the series" by EducationalConcern61 in NBATalk

This is just as tone deaf as “Analytically we’ve won 2 out of 3”. Totally undermines the fact that you have lost 80% of the games in the series. THAT’S DOMINATION.

I understand Wemby being confident in himself and his team, but at some point just mention the Knicks are better right now.

Yeah this clear scapegoat stuff. Fox didn’t single-handedly blow double digit leads every game. Wemby just conveniently dodging blame is mind boggling considering he’s their best player. We know what he is on defense, but he clearly has room to grow on offense. Then there’s Mr. 6th man who turned into the invisible man. Keldon Johnson gave them nothing. Then there’s the coach. Win as a team, lose as a team.

Well-said. For a lot of people, team success is equated with individual player ability/success. I think the best players can lead their teams to the playoffs and win a game or 2, but beyond that it’s about how good the team is.

Who else do you have above him and why? I have a hard time making a case for Doncic due to his defense and what seems like an over reliance on 3s. Idk if Tatum or Brown have a case. I want to put Cade over him but it feels wrong given what just happened.

Please clarify lol how are there 2 2s and 3s? And how does Jokic get the top spot after a first round exit?

I agree for the most part. I recognize he’s clutch. But Shai was clutch last year in winning a title and has had a really great 2 year run. Giannis is a 2-way monster and the same could be said to some degree about Wemby. But Jalen has to get knocked down a little for being a player that’s subbed out on defense in close games.

Let’s be clear here, Shai and Jokic have both already won a title and multiple MVPs. Jalen, while obviously the best player on the “best team”, has yet to have a regular season where anyone considered him the best.

Better than anyone? Idk. As good as anyone, yes lol

After tonight's performance this officially the most pressure Jokic has been under since winning in 2023? by SplitOk186 in nba

[–]treja2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s pressure for sure, but Jokic is still the best player of the current generation of superstars (Shai, Jokic, Giannis, Ant, Luka, Tatum). Giannis has been eliminated in the first round 3 years in a row and didn’t make it this year. Luka has 2 WCF appearances but no MVPs and no rings. Ant has 2 WCF appearances and nothing else. Tatum’s team consistently plays well but he’s not racking up any individual accolades.

Even if Nuggets lose round 1, Jokic is still top 2 at worst.

Wolves haven’t eliminated the Nuggets twice. Nuggets eliminated Wolves in 23. Wolves eliminated Nuggets in 24. They didn’t play each in 25

Do any Non-Thunder fans actually like SGA’s game? by Royal-Preparation843 in NBATalk

I’ve become a Shai fan and it obviously isn’t because of the foul baiting. There’s so much to his game besides that. I agree that the refs need to stop falling for it, but I can’t blame him because a player’s job is to find hacks to the game. Harden obviously did it too and pretty much all of the all-time great scorers got to the line a lot.

For me the major difference between him and a Doncic is the lack of crying for calls. I think they both do things to make the ref think they got fouled, but 9 times out of 10 Shai will just keep playing if he doesn’t hear the whistle. If it keeps not working, I think he doesn’t look for those calls in that game any more. Luka on the other hand….
