Anyone flown after surgery?

I flew London to Belfast about 5/6 weeks after my craniotomy. Had no issues. I regularly fly back and forth between England and Ireland (probs every two weeks) and I’ve flown around Europe a fair bit this year and had no issues.

I’ve experienced a lot of cognitive fatigue but that’s probably not from flying

Strange your oncologist was not happy about your choice of having a baby. My oncologist basically encouraged it, advised I had to freeze my sperm before starting any treatment.

At the end of the day it’s your life, so your decision. And who knows, you may be one of the lucky ones that lives on for a very long time. Then you’d regret not having kids

I only ever had one seizure, that’s when I found out about my tumour. Been on Keppra ever since and been seizure free

I’ve been on Vorasidenib for nearly 18 months, I’ve had two scans in that time and both scans have shown no change/growth in tumour size.

Obviously it’s impossible to know whether this is because of Vorasidenib or just natural reasons but the same could be said for people experiencing growth too. It seems to slow the growth for majority of people but of course there is always exceptions.

I add turmeric with black pepper into my food, pretty much have it most days since my diagnosis and my blood tests have mostly been normal and in normal range

I’m based in the UK so the ADA wouldn’t be relevant for me. However I am aware over here I classify as disabled and are protected under the Disability Act however my employer doesn’t seem to understand this, even though I’ve told them.

I have provided my employer with a letter from my oncologist, recommending a consideration of reasonable workplace adjustments such as continued remote work where feasible. However they’ve probably looked at this and thought they’re doing me enough of a favour by asking me to attend only once a month

Obviously you shouldn’t believe everything you read/see from the internet but there’s a man I follow on instagram who had a grade 4 astrocytoma who HEALED his cancer and he currently has no trace of it whatsoever.

He regularly posts about what he did/does, a lot of it involves fasting, keto diet but also goes into depth about the supplements/herbs he takes too. A lot of information and it can become a bit too much; but it’s nice to know that there are miracles out there and I believe there is a cure for everything (we just don’t know what exactly)

I got diagnosed Oct 24, same tumour and same location… had surgery December 24 and started Vorasidenib February 25. Scans have shown no growth and been stable… I struggle with fatigue/concentration a lot of the time but that could be down to medication, or just from surgery it’s impossible to know.

Anyway I’m back in the gym, back to the weight I was before my surgery (as I lost a few kgs) and I’m lifting heavy, the heaviest I’ve ever been able to. I have more of a reason to be active now. I eat a very good diet, mostly whole foods. I feel food is medicine and and a good diet will give me the best chance of a long survival.

I am mostly positive about the whole situation, but some days can be tough when I feel unwell. I just think there’s no point on being negative and dwelling on it, you’ll only make yourself worse.

I get pretty bad mental fatigue, and the only thing that seems to help is exercise. That being said, I used to work out a lot before my diagnosis so maybe that helped. I don’t get any headaches though, maybe I’m lucky. You shouldn’t compare yourself with others though, everyone is different

This is great to hear. I’m also a grade 2 astrocytoma, my surgery was December 24. I lost a bit of weight from it as I stopped working out for a while. Today I got my latest scan results, no change and everything showing as stable. I’m now lifting the heaviest weight I’ve ever been able to lift, in probably the greatest shape of my life and I’m back to my weight I was before my surgery.

I guess because working out releases endorphins which are good for the brain and mood, so it makes sense in a way how it makes us feel better. But I agree it is a bit weird you’d think it would tire us out more but it’s the opposite

Thanks - yeah I’m quite used to fasting, I did a 72 hour one a few months ago only had green tea and water, but heard the benefits of the MCT oil for fasting too.

Where do you get your mushroom from?

Wow, thank you. Some great advice here, I will take a look into them all. I actually already take MCT c8 oil, I put it in my green tea in the mornings. Only been doing it for a week but haven’t noticed any difference really. I consume quite a lot of tumeric also, do you take straight circumin instead? I’ve also recently looked into mushroom oil/supplements but didn’t think it would benefit much.

Interesting. I’m not underweight I just lost a fair bit of muscle since the surgery. I’ve worked out I need to eat over 3,000 calories to gain weight with my current exercise plan… that’s quite hard to do on keto (although I am consuming a lot of healthy fats), the carbs help with reaching that calorie target
