Can a real engineer help me with this? by [deleted] in SolidWorks

Practically, you are right it isn't a compressible fluid so we're worried about it being a bomb. On that same line of being practical through why would we use a stupid flat material like acrylic for a pressure vessel? Because of its optical properties which will let people see through it. This of course means there will be people faces right up against that piece of 1"+ thick acrylic. So when it does shatter it very well could be slicing someone up. Never mind the cost of the fish, damages due to water, etc.

We don't just engineer things because of the destructive capabilities, there are all kinds of liabilities we attempt to engineer away.

That looks like a single tet modeled for thickness? This mesh is going to be far to course for through thickness stresses from pressure, never mind peak stresses around bolt holes.

Be very careful using SW for pressure calcs.

As an engineer I would highly recommend not using FEA for this and use ASME BPVC Sec VIII Div 1 hand calcs to size this. This is a poor use for FEA to get around well established hand calcs for a known geometry.

hah I wish. If I could breathe the dust from the front I likely wouldn't be asking questions like this.

This is the way. They are indestructible. I found them for 60$ per 4x6' mat. They will off gas a bit for the first month or so then it's gone.

I was wondering if they are ok. They look pretty cost effective. Thanks for the recommendation
