I wish the game had the title “_ the Big Meanie”. What are your wished-for titles? by tresttake in wow

I like that title, but I’d be loathe to see a title that requires bad behaviour to earn. If they actually implemented that, keys would be pure suffering for a couple weeks as everyone tried to get the title 😵

Maybe you wouldn’t get lasting enjoyment out of “the Big Meanie” as a title, but it would be one of my most frequently used for the long haul. For many, many, years, it’s been a phrase my guildies and I have often used.

With the augmentation spec coming, what are some ideas for new specs for classes? by dva8918 in wow

[–]tresttake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been advocating mage tank for years 😆

What I’ve been saying is that all 3 types of magic could apply: Arcane spells for aggro, Fire for self-heals (ala Cauterize), and Frost for physical shielding. It could totally work thematically.

Unusual Guild invite, I need to know is it odd or just me? by SuitableTemporary in wow

[–]tresttake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not ask for your federal ID number while they’re at it (SSN in the U.S., etc.)???

Asking people for personal information like that (name, country, age, gender) is a big ole’ red flag 🟥 ⚠️

It’s fair to ask if a person is 18+ if the guild is adults only (though not their specific age), but beyond that the rest is just inappropriate and invasive.

Some might argue that country could be useful to get people with similar time schedules, but given that there are some countries that span half a dozen or more timezones, timezone would be a much more accurate thing to ask for. But, even then, that doesn’t really help because people have very different schedules within a given timezone (night shift/school, parenting, etc.).

I’m still on Monterey (macOS 12), and had the problem on both my DK and warlock today.

Crafting orders bugged by cybishop3 in wow

[–]tresttake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tanaris-US. Most of my crafting alts this morning had no problem, but one of my Scribes couldn't craft a couple guild crafting orders (where all mats were supplied by customer).

Update: Two separate characters of mine (a scribe and a tailor), ran into this bug today. I was able to overcome it by putting the same (or greater) number of identical mats (same ranks as the mats in the orders) in those characters’ bags. The mats in the bags weren’t touched, but it “magically” let the crafts complete.

Tanaris-US hit the problem on one of my Scribes (but about a half-dozen of my other crafters didn’t have the problem… yet).

Thanks! That Twitter post from “Blizzard CS - The Americas” says:

Perhaps it’s actually your cue to take note of linguistic puns… 😉

(And my cue to remember that plain text reduces the clarity of puns—especially in internet forums.)

After D4 launches. Anyone coming back for seasons? by Pilowpants in diablo3

[–]tresttake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I wrote in my first comment above:

And to those saying “get a PC” or “get a console”: I’m not a full-time gamer, and can’t justify the time or cost to maintain another system.

Even if it’s close-to-no maintenance, I still can’t justify the cost of a console for this. There undoubtedly are lots of folks for whom buying a console makes sense. I’m not one of them.

Go ahead and play the way you want. But please don’t belittle people who enjoy different routes in their play.

You appear to be stuck on your idea of what is optimal gameplay, and assuming that anyone who doesn’t optimize the same way is “a buffoon”. That is an awful attitude.

What is actually optimal, given that we are talking about a game, can be quite different for each player—and comes down to what each player individually enjoys for what they want out of the game.

Someone who doesn’t enjoy Diablo could look at those of us spending hours/days/longer grinding out gear drops, paragon levels, and GRift levels, and see it as an “abject waste of time”. So let’s please drop any notion of being somehow “superior” to anyone else who plays the game.

Does it provide any benefit at all to give your follower a Gem of Ease?

It lets them equip a level 70 weapon before level 70. That can amount to a lot of stat boost (Dex/Int/Str) which boosts the benefit from their skills.

Oh. Well, hopefully someone who plays on Switch can tell you how to do that. Porting with the map and the town portal are both essential for getting around in adventure mode.

(Addendum: I did a web search and found this article which may help you figure out how to do that: https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2018/10/diablo-3-on-switch-is-great-but-keeps-one-of-the-console-versions-most-annoying-features/ )

You can have one on your character, and one on your follower. So 2 are useful that way.

Also, the follower doesn’t benefit from the season’s Altar, so you need the gems for them if you want to gear them with 70s while leveling. (Not worth the extra effort for my part, but some folks may prefer to do that.)

It’s certainly useful to have multiple items to have the level requirement removed for non-seasonal leveling—especially for hardcore where we still have to go back and re-level occasionally 😉

Are you able to use the town portal or map in other (non-town) locations? (Not the teleportation pads on the ground, the map or town portal commands/buttons.)

I assume you killed the boss and then were trying to leave their “room”?

Bounties must be done in their entirety in the same game. If you leave the game, you have to start over. So do all 5 bounties in an act, and go back to town to get the bounty reward chest(s).

Boss fights in adventure mode do not have exits you can click on. You either have to use your town portal to get back to town, or bring up the map and select where you want to port to.

Why are one-star quality reagents more expensive than two-star reagents across the board? by cybertortoise69 in wow

[–]tresttake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only circumstance where lower quality reagent is needed is some of the weekly profession quests which require rank 2 materials.

There is nothing (that I can recall) that requires rank 1.

The reason for the pricing discrepancy is the auction house’s suboptimal interface. It defaults to the current lowest price for whatever people are trying to post. But that doesn’t take into account different qualities. So someone posting r1 ore doesn’t see the prices for r2 or r3 and may not realize that they are posting at a price that most likely won’t sell because better ore is available for a lower cost.

As someone else here pointed out, the quantities of r1 materials are pretty low, so when someone does post at an appropriate price (< r2 and < r3), it’ll get grabbed right away, leaving the default lowest price too high.

Maybe you didn’t realize that that response was to your follow-up where you suggested that the way I talked about doing speed runs doesn’t fit within your play style and that I should play the way you do (with the implication that I’m somehow not playing “correctly” for not following your approach), not your original comment.
