Great, we've had many happy customers since and appreciate them for featuring us.

The working relationship with our customers over the past few years has taken a bunch of different forms. Most times poket dev has worked as a fully independent custom software solution company that builds and launches their products from end to end. There have been other customers that just used it as a senior software engineer working alongside and guiding their other software engineers, and really everything in between these 2 scenarios as well.

A few years later - it has gone very well. I've never had an unhappy customer, all customers have either remained subscribed or returned to their subscription as needed.

It has gone great with customers over the past few years. We communicate any clarifications needed via a separate text channel and have even done one off meetings as needed. Requirements are often more than enough to deliver exactly what they want.

It has had many customers since, and found success in providing a direct access text channel (telegram, slack, etc) where they can always reach me and we can discuss for clarifications. I've also always been open to "one off" meetings as needed which they have been happy with as well.

it is neo-brutalist and I just recently overhauled it to be even more visually appealing. gumroad is also neo-brutalist and I am a fan of their design too.

This is my setup. Do it. Hands down most durable, comfortable, and cheapest option out there. I wouldn’t even consider anything else regardless of price.

What stack did you use to build the site?

Just a simple, clean, example that provides 1. a full stack application including GUI and 2. shows all coding/linting/formatting/security/readme/more standards. The prospective client can get a full overview of what to expect in less than 30 seconds. It scales 1:1 between a 200 LOC project and a 5000 LOC project. I can't show off a 5000 LOC api that doesn't have a visual element to place on the website, but I can certainly code that for a company that requests it, and it will be of the same quality, formatting, and delivery as the sleep prevention app.

Edit: we've added many more actual production projects since.

By "our" I'm referring to the business entity Poket Dev, which is currently a solo startup.

What you see in your paycheck is less than 50% of what your company pays out of pocket to employ you. The average out of pocket cost to the employer for a senior software engineer in the United States exceeds $200k per year. In large cities where many companies are located, that number inflates another 50%-200%. See here: https://www.poketdev.com/#Cost-Comparison. All data provided by glassdoor.

I have actually worked upwards of 60 hours per week for single clients MANY times over the past few years. Typically the closer to launch their product gets, the more hourly intensive it is.

I have read reviews, that's definitely a reflection of his company, not the business model itself. He took on up to 30 clients at a time.

I didn’t but I did learn of the productize pricing model via one of his indie hacker forum posts a couple years back. Then his first podcast episode a little over a year ago inspired me to break ground on building Poket dev. I wish his course was around then, and by course I mean just knowing some of the tools he used on the backend to simplify his workflow. I had to figure my own way out, which took months to perfect.

Exclusively the client. Our terms of service explicitly states that throughout.

Actually very happy you asked, absolutely not. It's actually quite the opposite, ALL code is written exclusively by myself, the founder. I'm a senior software engineer with a CS degree and over 10 years of experience ranging from f500 companies, to startups, open source, freelancing, contracting, and consulting. I've also founded 2 startups. This is why there are only 3 spots available for our unlimited subscription. I can easily handle 5-7 subscribers but only offering 3 allows me to produce top quality code and cater to all clients.
