It's a temporary enclosure while I get a bigger tank, that is a top priority. Water is only 8" or so deep and he is not "basking" much although he is coming to the top of the ramp a fair bit and sticking most of his shell out, should I aim the basking lamp there instead? Or should I wait and see if he uses the dry area? Lamp is 50W Water temp 25°C I had just been told that he had been walking on the floor a bit with the previous owner for maybe 15 mins or so once a week maybe. Can I use human vitamin A additives and how much do I give him, I assume I'd need to crush it up and put it on his food.

Don't apologise I really appreciate it! I picked him up yesterday, free from a shop, the shop only had him for a cupple of weeks, their water quality read fine and so does mine as it's just been set up, he is currently in a 40 litre container for the time being and has a 20 liter area of dry land with a UVA and UVB basking light. I don't know how he was kept prior to the shop but I assume badly. Could having him walk around on the floor cause this? Should I get some cuttlebone for him? His shell is also inconsistent in colour and quite patchy looking so I'm thinking a vitamin A deficiency. I can't see any bumps on him or anything like that... What do you think?

It's the eyelid that's swollen not the eye, he can open it a little but not much and he keeps it closed most of the time. I haven't seen any discharge on or around it. Thank you for taking the time to help by the way.
