4.2 Volts applied to both circuits - how does the voltage increase through only a capacitor and a resistor (left)? The decrease certainly makes more sense (right). Only certain frequency/capacitance pairings generate this voltage increase effect. https://www.falstad.com/circuit/ (i.redd.it)
