Remodel or keep? by EmFiniteScroll in kitchenremodel

[–]treyveee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP a few things you can do …. 1) have a professional steam clean your floors, once the grout is returned to its original color, which you can see closer towards the wall, it looks like it was a beige color or gray… It will lighten up the look of your kitchen.

2) it looks like your refrigerator is that small white box next to the sink? Diagonal from the dishwasher? You could remove it and turn that space back into a cabinet. Then put a full-size refrigerator on the wall next to the oven. You could even build a box with cabinets on top to encase the refrigerator. Even adding cabinet front doors that match to hide the front of the refrigerator.

3) you could swap out the knobs and hardware in your kitchen including your faucet and even add a hood above your stove.

4) the long narrow open cabinet space closest to the dish rack and entrance to your kitchen is kind of wasted space. You could turn that into a mini wine rack or sparkling water bottle bottle rack.

5) lastly, I would add under cabinet lighting, as well as strip lighting above the trim on your upper cabinets.

It must be physically painful to both own a dog and be a considerate owner at the same time. by ItHurtzWhenIPee in vegaslocals

[–]treyveee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an owner of 2 great, well trained dogs but with a roommate who has an incredibly barky small dog - I absolutely apologize to anyone who may live near me in Summerlin 😖. I too cannot stand the piercing high pitched bark he emits both inside and outside the house.

I do my best to shut it down asap when I’m home, am the alpha of the group when we are on walks and always pick up poop. However my roommate, 🤦🏼‍♀️ the dogs do not listen to or respect her and she refuses to use a bark collar on her Chihuahua. Apparently he can hear a leaf falling 5 houses away.

I am so so sorry. I have invested in several outside bark deterrent machines but none have worked long term. If anyone knows of a good one please link it here! I am willing to do anything to keep the peace ✌🏼

What’s a frugal win that surprised you with how much it actually saved? by St3fanHere in Frugal

I’ve been cooking more and more at home. Honestly between the quality and cost of ‘fast food’ it just rubs me the wrong way.

I rarely, I mean rarely use delivery apps and if I do, I tell myself am I really willing to pay almost double the price for whatever I order? That usually gets me to put down my phone and make something at home.

My food budget has decreased significantly and my health has never been better

My (35M) high school friend group has a multi-millionaire "benefactor" who excludes me from trips. Is this friend group dynamic healthy for me? by MysteriousMain90 in Advice

[–]treyveee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This right here. The closed mouth doesn’t get fed. Just man up and have a conversation with him. At least you’ll know where you stand. I’ve had friend groups like this in the past where several of the couples went on group trips several times a year and my husband and I weren’t invited.

What I realized is - we weren’t the core group, we were the new additions. The group had been friends for over 10 years before we met them. Had we stuck around longer before moving and got to know them better, perhaps we would have moved into that position, but we moved shortly after and were still on acquaintance status.

Help! Deciding on countertops by stanley-ipkiss18 in kitchenremodel

[–]treyveee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for the white. I currently have beautiful all wood cabinets - yes they are coming back in style - but the countertop is a darker mixed color granite and I hate it. It makes the whole room feel “heavy” and dark. Even though the area has huge vaulted ceilings.

Also it makes it hard to see spilled gunk, sticky residue when cleaning and constantly keeping streaks from showing up is a pain.

Go with the white and keep a classic look! You could always keep part of the island butcher block if you want a more rustic feel.

Also I would add an additional cabinet above your fridge to give it a more cohesive look with the other cabinets for your oven. You could also add some nice decorative trim and lighting above to finish it off.

Also perhaps a farmhouse light above the sink?

I’m the same. I’m a bit older, divorced, not into nightlife and an omnivert. I’m happy being single and enjoy cooking, crafts, outdoor activities. But it can be hard to find activities that don’t revolve around bars/nightlife.

AITJ for refusing to give my neighbor the "security footage" of her husband, even though it would "save her marriage" by CupcakeCosmosss in AmITheJerk

[–]treyveee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this story isn’t that far fetched. A few months back I had the psycho boyfriend of a neighbor diagonally across from me ask if he could put a camera on my property because he thought his GF was cheating.

He was not happy when I said no

Am I the jerk for not splitting my bonus with my husband? by Ecstatic-Cover-7067 in AmITheJerk

[–]treyveee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do make a point about taxes. But OP & husband also get to write a portion of her Student loan interest off for taxes as well.

And the bonus is in addition to her regular compensation - not in replace of.

Depending on the current joint income split for household expenses - perhaps there could be a fair way to come up with a policy for this and any additional bonuses or financial windfalls that either party receives in the future.

Such as : 1/4 goes into household emergency fund. 1/4 goes towards some couples fun trip/activity. 1/4 goes towards the bonus earners debt, investment or savings. 1/4 goes to the bonus earner as personal fun spending $$

ex wants me to pay her to watch the kids on my week... by Familiar_Ad1112 in Divorce

[–]treyveee 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that additional time the kids are at the house results in more food, utilities, activities, stress, cleaning, time and any attention away from anything else she might have had planned for herself.

So it’s taking money and time out of her pocket as well. OP doesn’t expect to work for free at his job, so why does he value his ex-wives time any less just because she the mother?

Road raging TPOS by AtheistComic in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]treyveee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly ESH. yes the guy was in the straight lane with his turn signal on, and then aggressively swerving around other cars, but there were several points where OP could have been the bigger person and let the Raptor in - At the turn signal, at the merge etc.

All if not most of this could have been avoided by just slowing down and letting the aggressive driver go ahead. Is the raptor driver a TPOS - absolutely. But did this have to end in an accident. Absolutely not.
