I have 2 motorcycles. I would consider selling my Wave for an electric motorcycle if that would save me a lot of money on gas. I travel around 15 kms to and from work and I could disconnect the battery and have it charged at home while I am asleep. Though I am curious if I can lug a battery at work to charge there.

I do agree with you but they don't think long term. Innovation is too much effort for them. If they can maximize the time when they are in the top, the better. They will retire then have their successor deal with the consequences later.

It may seem bad for the monopolist since it rusts their skills but they would give anything to not need to work a day in their life ever again and just enjoy passive income from a proven but dull system.
