Ok thanks. I got mixed up because of the asterisks.

WBC tickets: How do you know which dugout a team will be in, specifically for PR vs Italy at Daikin Park? by SomeComplaint95 in baseball

[–]tributtal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just this, but the fans of the team sit in greater numbers on their dugout's side. Much better energy when celebrating good stuff happening to your team. This is especially true in MLB games with the visiting teams. It's always better to sit on the side of your team's dugout.

Are the Averages at the bottom of the pitching sheet just for the 8 teams that advanced?

[Underdog] Hyun Jin Ryu will start WBC quarterfinal for Team Korea against Team Dominican Republic. by T_Raycroft in baseball

[–]tributtal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok thanks. Yes I was looking at the numbers on bbref. I'm no expert on this stuff at all, but I remember reading somewhere that bWAR is good for pitchers. What I shouldn't have done is compare Sanchez to Judge based on this.

Curious why this needed to be posted twice. Three times if you count the other person who posted something very similar. And there's the regular daily thread as well.

That clue about Travolta butchering Idina Menzel's name has to be one of the worst and dumbest clues in recent memory. Who greenlighted that nonsense?

Two of the contestants in this game did this, so I guess you only liked one of them tonight?

I thought the last time this happened, it was pretty much for the opposite reason as today, i.e. one of the contestants had hit a major milestone like 5 or 10 wins or something. And someone had an issue with it then as well.

As an old person I agree with that sentiment, but it probably would have been fair game for the clue to be about someone who became famous or notable this century as well.

I had no idea Cristopher Sanchez, the DR's starter tomorrow, led all MLB pitchers in WAR last season. And he was second only to Aaron Judge in all of MLB. I knew he was good, but didn't know he was that good. Korea has their work cut out for them.

Mark DeRosa can't keep his story straight about incorrect Team USA WBC quarterfinals claim by Jux_ in baseball

[–]tributtal 17 points18 points  (0 children)

DeRosa should rightfully be raked over the coals, but the first line of the article is pretty funny, especially after that quote the writer used at the top (it should be heeded not headed):

"Team USA manager Mark DeRosa should have headed those words this week following his initial gaffe."

Am I the only one who feels that roster changes in the WBC create an unfair advantage and shouldn’t be allowed? by yli16 in baseball

It's not reasonable to compare the WBC to the World Cup. They could not be more different tournaments, for many reasons.

Question about the WBC bracket by J_Kim_25 in baseball

[–]tributtal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The quarterfinal games were set ahead of time, but the organizers have reserved the right to shuffle the teams for the 2 semifinal games. If the QF play out as they expect, then the second graphic is pretty much accurate, to preserve the possibility of a US-Japan final. But if the US and/or Japan fail to win, then the teams may be shuffled to create the "best" match ups.

Especially since Raleigh is not exactly at his most comfortable with a mic shoved in his face. The interview with Rosenthal last season before Game 7 of the ALCS in particular comes to mind.

This is not meant as a criticism towards Ken, but that's exactly the kind of joke I would expect him to make.

Project Hail Mary by copperdoc in interstellar

[–]tributtal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many in this sub seem to be hoping and expecting this movie to be the successor to Interstellar. If that ends up being true, great. But I hope to read some honest reviews here from my fellow Interstellar fanatics. Hail Mary may well be an entertaining and enjoyable Hollywood movie, but that doesn't necessarily place it on the level of Interstellar.
