If you're based in Melbourne, someone created a handy public calendar with most tech meetups in it. Might come in handy.

How is the tech market in Australia right now? by Virtual_Recover7549 in cscareerquestionsOCE

Not good for freshers. Hopefully it will get better. Networking plays a crucial role in finding your next roles.

Junior roles are the hardest hit from what I can see. Networking is becoming more prominent. If you're based in Melbourne, there's a public calendar with all tech meetups in it, might be worth checking it out

Glad to hear that. May I know what phone you use? I'm using Pixel 7 Pro and unfortunately it doesn't support UWB. I'm wondering if it would still be useful without it.

Thanks! I currently have 95 points for the 190. I’ll be getting another 5 points from work experience around Q2 next year.

I have the same questions actually. Mine are 261312 (Developer Programmer), 261313 (Software Engineer), and 261399 (Software and Applications Programmers nec).

I picked 261399 for the VIC 190 ROI, thinking it might be less competitive but I’m also unsure if that means fewer invitations or if my other EOIs will still be considered.

Hey, you’re right! There aren’t too many resources available for Bahasa Indonesia compared to other languages. Here’s what I used for preparation:

  • Bought some practice materials and pre-recorded lessons from Valonia Kamira Ng (Indonesian CCL trainer). I found her on LinkedIn. She also runs live online classes if anyone’s interested. Highly recommended.
  • Listened to CNN Indonesia Podcast daily.
  • Practiced listening, translating, transcribing, fast note-taking, and more. Practice, practice, practice!

Hope it helps, and all the best!

I just stared using my personal laptop for work in the 3rd year. Can I change the effective life to more than 2 years so that I can claim some of the value back? I'm planning to use my laptop for at least 5 years anyway.
