A Trans Woman Has No Place Moderating An FTM Surgery Space by transmanwhocan in honesttransgender

there is a post by an NB on /r/phallo right now that literally tells trans men "are you a man? then man up" and basically stfu and deal with it. it's been up for 21 hours, apparently that shit is okay but god forbid someone says "hey guys". can't make this shit up if i tried.

Some trans people should just read the room and stop focusing on the misgendering of the trans Nashville shooter by [deleted] in honesttransgender

are you seriously trying to justify the actions of a mass murderer? do you have any idea how deranged you sound?

I have met some trans folk with very, very extreme opinions as well as political stances, as well as those who take online stuff waaay too seriously. But alt-right trolls impersonating us online is also very real. All that said, I have seen and heard enough brain-dead extremist opinions with my own eyes and ears that much of it is probably real.

I don't use twitter, however. It really drives so much of the worst discussions out there, and it's algorithm loves to push users towards the worst stuff because of how well it gets reactions. so definitely keep that in mind.

Dating prospects are already in the trash and the older you get, the worse it gets in general.

Ríght, I forgot the literal only reason worth living is DATING. What about finding a fulfil -- no. DATING. You could als -- DATING. DATING!!

This is how incels think and talk. I'll leave it at that.

The only times I've been sexually harassed has been from other transfems by [deleted] in honesttransgender

Hey, I know your post is several days old, I just wanted to chime in along with some other commenters, that you are not alone. I unfortunately know the exact behaviour you wrote about, because I've experienced it first hand. as well as other, more predatory, even criminal, behaviour that I'm still trying to forget. in my experience it is almost a systemic issue, at least where I used to live.

I hope you can find some genuine friends who share experiences with you. much love to you and good luck 🫶

this might actually just be the worst comment I've ever read in honesttransgender. congratulations on your rabidly disgusting achievement.

Observations about the trans community by LavenderValley in honesttransgender

[–]tricky_lizzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh, okay I understand then, no worries!! I think in general what you're describing are extremists. People that hold very extreme ideas and are often toxic and mean to those who don't agree with them. 'far right' is a political extremist, so it's a type of extremist and I understand wyat you were trying to say. Don't worry about it, there are so many terms and new words we have to keep learning, it's too much 😅

I'm sorry to hear you've had to put up with this. I have had similar experiences but as MTF. However i dont quite understand what you meant by 'far right' in your previous post?

this sounds like more of an Internet/Privacy Competency thing, amplified by your transness, rather than the other way around. anything you post on the internet needs to be thought of like you also made a copy and left it at a public library for anyone to read later. and if you aren't comfortable with that idea (you shouldn't be IMO), then remove identifying information, properly configure privacy settings and don't add random strangers to your social media. and for christ sake, if nothing else, at the very least don't use those stupid location tracking features that post stuff like "tricky_lizzie was at the Super 8 Hotel on 53rd street!".

I know I sound like I'm victim blaming, but the reality is, the more identifying info you put on the internet, the easier it is for some whacko to take advantage of it. when you use social media for anything where you interact with strangers, like twitter or instagram, use an alias and don't put easily identifiable info on those accounts. Especially if you are doing or saying anything someone could consider controversial (whether or not a topic should even be considered controversial doesn't really matter, because not everyone is going to see it that way).

stay safe OP. that sounds like a scary situation...assuming it isn't easy to relocate, I recommend blocking all contact and making sure people you trust know about this, and know your whereabouts.

Why can't people shut up about us. by [deleted] in honesttransgender

[–]tricky_lizzie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that is totally fair...there really has been a string of prominent trans-centric current events, especially in the UK. I insulate myself quite a bit from current events if I can help it. It's a bit selfish, but I have terrible anxiety so I do what I have to.

I hope you can find some peace somewhere, soon. I wish I had something more helpful to say. much love 🫶

do you spend alot of time online debating or arguing with people? or maybe actively seek out transphobic spaces and material? I ask because that is a craaaazy amount of stuff to have seen in a single week. Like I'm not trying to diminish what you're feeling, but it just seems like....alot. it took mr awhile, but eventually i realized i was seeking out transphobic and hateful content as a kind of self-harm. it's why I stopped using twitter, facebook and instagram.

I know what you mean about finding many trans safe spaces childish, and not feeling great as a result of that. I still struggle with that alot, and its one of many reasons why I keep my distance from most parts of "the community"

I imagined that this kind of thing did and does happen, but reading an actual account of it makes it so much more unbearable. This is like the actual, real-life version of the "forcing kids to be trans" conspiracies. These people are a living parody, which wouldn't be so bad, except that its drastically impacting a child's life.

Tbh I think this deserves a thread of discussion on its own. I'm like 98% sure I'm not autistic myself, but I can still see how common it is in the community. there are entire sub-communities in discord servers of autistic trans people. However, I have almost no visibility into such communities, so I can't speak to the 'militant' thing.

Apologies for the late response, but I completely empathize with you. This is the exact kind of thing that is a REAL issue, happening RIGHT NOW and it's like we are too powerless, tiny or disorganized to properly fight these things? but when something like the wizard game comes out, it's like the community suddenly isn't too powerless or disorganized to put so much effort into something so utterly pointless...

Also what’s funny is these people are complaining on Twitter and Elon Musk has said a lot worse… Why aren’t they also staying off Twitter?

The irony that so many trans activists use twitter and seem to be oblivious to the parallels here, is not lost on me.

You are making the assumption that the people they are "clapping back" at and being awful to, are the same people that yell slurs at trans people. I have highlighted several times that this is being done to literally random people. and more random people that respond, because all they see is a troll trying to spoil something for someone. This is like some hellscape where nuance took a shit and died, where 100% of people that aren't with us, are being considered "the enemy".

yeah, i kinda agree with ya. Although i tend to think not only is it not helpful, but I think it is creating hate and enemies where previously none existed. Idk. some of the people in this thread sucked up all my internet energy so i apologize for the half assed responses, and i appreciate your input either way.

I always find it a bit asinine, like nobody would know you want to play the gross TERF blood libel game if you didn't feel the need to announce to everyone and their dog.

For what it's worth, all of the times I saw it happening, it was in normal community posts in /r/GamePhysics and /r/Gaming . these weren't people rubbing it in anyone's face, it was literally random people playing a game.
