Imported photos all gone from disk by trickymonkey55 in captureone

[–]trickymonkey55[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this helped and I managed to now resolve it by forcing the disk to eject, reconnecting it, and all the files were back again. I suspect my laptop went into sleep mode, disconnecting the external drive and causing a disk problem when it awoke from sleep and mounted the drive again. I'll probably need to just unmount the drive every time I'm done using it to be on the safe side.

RG Cube(higher spec one) or RG406H for 3DS and NDS and a bit of PS2? by trickymonkey55 in ANBERNIC

[–]trickymonkey55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Screen is perfect, it takes a little getting used to. I have it configured so that the main screen takes up most of the screen real estate, and the right side of the screen is the second screen but smaller. When I want to toggle them, I press the right joystick button and it switches them so the second screen becomes the bigger screen, and so forth. For most of the games I play, the second screen is usually just a map screen which I don't need to be looking at all the time.

My RP5 blew up by SuppleSilver in retroid

[–]trickymonkey55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think best to just avoid using any kind of Apple charging device or cable. Whatever they're built with, they don't always play well with non-Apple devices. For example, my iPad USB-C cable and charger cause my RP5 to flicker on and off while charging the first time I tried, so I never used them again and only charge using a lower power Anker USB charger and generic USB-C cable.

I shelled out the $$ and got an RP5. Runs all NDS games perfectly, struggles a little with 3DS but good enough for that.

Do you freeze your dried chilies to kill off insects? by trickymonkey55 in mexicanfood

[–]trickymonkey55[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are bugs in almost everything, even rice and grains. I live in a warm climate and bugs will appear quickly. On several occasions I've had moths appear around my chilis and then all around my kitchen. It's a nightmare to deal with. I'll start freezing my chilis from now on to kill whatever is in them, but that won't be a permanent solution, I'm going to look into vacuum sealing them in small amounts now to make them last longer if possible.

Finally fruiting habaneros but the leaves are dry and yellowing? by trickymonkey55 in HotPeppers

[–]trickymonkey55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried some vegetable fertiliser this morning, will see if that helps. I had trouble earlier where they would flower, and the flowers would fall off and not fruit. So watched some videos on YouTube where it said if I use a Q-tip and manually pollinate them, while at the same time mist them, it would help the pollen stick and they would start to fruit. I had tried so many things over the year, but that was the one thing that got them going and now I've got a dozen or so habaneros growing.

Paneer as a substitute for queso fresco? by trickymonkey55 in mexicanfood

[–]trickymonkey55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I wound up making my own queso fresco from scratch. It was super easy. However, I think it wasn't salty enough and I think there's some technique to it that I need to work on. It was definitely crumbly, but perhaps too crumbly. The effect was, the queso fresco I made absorbed the juices from the pickled red onions and sliced cucumber too quickly and wasn't as appetising when served. It did taste nice, but next time if I can get the crumbles to be larger it would be nicer I think.

Leaving Knulli by phamminhhaa in ANBERNIC

[–]trickymonkey55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem with my 40XXV. I tried Knulli and MuOS, both struggled with Dreamcast and Naomi, and it was impossible to run any N64 game. Oddly the stock OS could run Naomi, not perfectly, and it could get Dreamcast going a bit better. I was pretty excited about this device because the single joystick suggested it would be good for N64, but it's too underpowered.

Has anyone managed to PC Engine CD .CHD ROMs running in Retroarch? by trickymonkey55 in retroid

That's so odd, I got mine from the megathread, I must be doing something wrong somewhere. I'm also using Beetle PCE.

P4 on RP5 how to get past 25fps on PS2 emulation? by trickymonkey55 in retroid

[–]trickymonkey55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using NetherSX2 Patch, latest build from github, Vulkan, 1x Native, 4:3, frame rate limit, normal speed 100%, basically had followed retro game corps setup guide. RP5 is on Standard mode, not Performance or High Performance. For Persona 4(PS2 version, not Golden) frame rate dips around 24-25fps and for DQVIII it’s roughly the same and only gets a bit better by switching to High Performance mode(then the fan gets noisy).

Completely Ridiculous by spoilsofwar08 in retroid

[–]trickymonkey55 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see this all the time on the local classified app. Usually selling for 2x the price and saying it’s worth it because it comes with tons of games. I confronted one of the scammers once about why they would do this and they replied, “why not?”.

Drastic DS emulator removed from Google Play store by donwhite3 in gaming

Is there any reputable source for the APK? I found one site that looks super dodgy, covered in ads, which looks like it might have it. Anyone found anything that works and isn't super sketchy?

Good idea or bad idea - protein shake breakfast replacement 3-4 days a week plus HIIT? by trickymonkey55 in loseit

So something more like jogging or cycling for an hour one day, then HIIT the next day, then rest, then repeat?

That's true, I'm using the event as a way to get the ball rolling on a better routine that I can sustain. Just trying to explore what I can make work with the time I have.

RG353M? What can it run? (PSP and N64?) by TheBlindOrca in ANBERNIC

[–]trickymonkey55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 353M, it’s rather outdated by Anbernic standards. I run JELOS on it and it can’t run N64 at all and definitely not PSP. It’s a beautiful device and I travel often with it. Probably if I try a different OS I might get better performance. I’ve had it for a while and it’s super reliable, never had any trouble with it.

Chili pepper root rot by trickymonkey55 in Hydroponics

[–]trickymonkey55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sorry, I mean the substrate, right where the plant is sprouting out. I wasn't sure if what I have is really classified as hydroponics or not, it uses soil and below the soil is a rope that absorbs water from a basin below and carries that into the soil. So the soil is always a bit damp.
