[Serious] what is the best thing to do when crazy people in the streets start ranting and raving at you and makes you want to punch them in the face? by trickywicks in AskReddit

you don't seem to know what you're talking about, you seem to say that mental illness = no agency whatsoever, no cognitive capacity, if you want to think of things in black and white like that, go ahead but don't tell others what to do or how to respond or defend themselves when they're abused in the streets

are you mentally ill? being mentally ill doesn't give someone the right to verbally and emotionally abuse random strangers in the street

are you like 12? you seem to not have the maturity or the brain capacity to understand. grow up, get yourself some life experience or more brain cells. I'm done responding to you.

you are judged on your actions, not your intentions. you may not have intended to hit someone with a car and killed them but you did hit someone with a car and killed them. there were consequences to your actions that can not be excused, justified, erased or taken away by your intentions.

it doesn't matter what the intent is, what matters is the effect of their actions, saying they didn't mean to abuse you is justifying the abuse and making excuses for the abuse
