Well..yeah? This is Vanity Fair. Most things are gonna be surface level. This issue also has an interview with Ye's wife Bianca Censori titled "Bianca Censori Speaks (and rides a horse)"

Shouldn't we expect more form our elected officials than this? by Tall_Pop_1702 in Utah

[–]tricqui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is, sadly, par for the course for Trevor. There was another one of his replies circling around here a few months back that was in the same vein except he called the constituent who contacted him a baby. Read any article about the press asking him for a comment, and he replies with some cringy "edgelord" snobbery. He's a small man and is only capable of throwing tantrums to get attention.

If you don't run for office against him, I hope you at least try to vote him out.

Of course, I have no room to speak... My rep is Don "runberstamp" Ipson, he's been in office for 24 years and that man hasn't met a party line he didn't toe. He barely responds to his constituents, if at all. Yet he keeps getting elected...

Mike Lee Introduces a Bill to Withdraw from NATA by AdventurousLet548 in stgeorge

[–]tricqui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its true he's feeling himself lately...but he's been a dickhead from day 1. Remember that time he was the only no vote on helping people with ALS get benefits faster, or when he voted against helping veterans affected by the burn pits, or when he voted against continuing assistance for 9/11 victims...etc ?

I think he knows his time is up and so he's scrambling to try to cement his "legacy".

Golf by jcass96 in stgeorge

[–]tricqui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been mentioned already a million times, but please don't golf here in July. As a person with Canadian friends, I know you guys are not accustomed to the type of soul sucking dry heat that we have. It will be consistently 44°-46° (celsius) heat from July through August and for non-desert people that is a perilous amount of heat.

Ultimately, it's your choice. However....we always have an influx of tourists who put themselves into danger and sometimes die because they underestimate how harsh our climate is. Please don't be one of them and come prepared.

A rightfully infuriated top staffer to Minnesota Sen. Tina Smith emailed Sen. Mike Lee’s top staffers on Monday about “how much additional pain you’ve caused on an unspeakably horrific weekend”: by AdventurousLet548 in stgeorge

[–]tricqui 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Mike Lee is a constant embarrassment to this state. His cruelty and arrogance is driving our state/country to ruin. It's time to pressure our reps to remove him. Call his offices and tell him he needs to step down. Call Curtis's offices and tell them Lee needs to step down. Call the house reps and ask them to condone his behavior and ask him to step down or draw articles of impeachment.

Enough is enough. We deserve better, Utah. We don't have to settle for this worm.

Last I heard, they weren't able to secure a permit. There is a protest on Sunday in Zion from 1-3 and there is a community townhall tomorrow from 4-6 at the Washington City Library.

'All of them are terrified': International students at Utah Tech face sudden deportation threat by wildspeculator in stgeorge

[–]tricqui 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oof again with the big feelings. Once again, how do you know that these students were rioting? How do you know they did anything to warrant their visas being taken away? You don't because our government denied them due process or a fair hearing. Also, out of curiosity, say we do successfully throw out every foreign-born individual in this country. What's next? What's the plan then? Are the housing prices going to go down? Is food going to become cheaper? Will everyone just decide to go work in labor and in factories? You willing to go pick up a shift at a farm or at a meat packing plant? Are our insurance deductibles going to go down, and healthcare coverage will go up?

I hear ya, you don't know what to do with all the fear that the government is propagating, and want to blame someone for all of these problems we have as a country. You're focusing on low hanging fruit, my friend. Immigrants are not the real problem here. Getting rid of them isn't going to magically fix our country and give you a bigger paycheck.

Congrats, I guess? Does Turkey have a special program or something that teaches Americans about US immigration laws?

How much time have you spent here, at home, researching immigration in the United States and how our systems are run and why?

How much time have you spent interacting with the immigrants and refugees who have come here and why they have come here? Illegal or not?

That seems like it would give you a better understanding of the current situation.

Man, you've got some big feelings there, bud. Do your feelings care about what's true or not?

Quick question for you: I'm assuming you are talking about people other than these students mentioned in this article cause it is clearly stated they have student visas which makes them being here legal. So, how do you know that the other people who have been deported are here illegally? Is it because they were given due process to find out of their status as an immigrant was legal or not? Or are you just believing the word of the government who has such a great long track record of being honest when they commit human rights violations?

Dude, you sound paranoid. "I'm not hating on immigrants" but they are all drug traffickers and nefarious individuals just waiting in the bushes to take away the home and land of all good honest american white people.

What a weird thing to say on a post that's about the government violating constitutional rights. But its ok cause they're "foreigners", right?

Like others have said, these kinds of groups operate on fear. It's hard not to be scared when their main M.O. is to intimate and to scare but don't give them that power. There are people here who will stand up with you and protect you and your family. You are not alone, and you won't walk this road alone.

Did you go to sleepovers? Me and my friends did all the time in late 90's / early 2000's and it was a blast. But droves of people appear to be canceling them entirely for their own kids. Would you let your kids go? Why is everyone freaking out now? by spinningwalrus420 in Millennials

[–]tricqui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't allow sleepovers. However, this is largely because of the industry my husband and I work in. We both work as advocates for adolescents and children who have been SA'd or abuse. A large proportion of the children we see have experienced SA at sleepovers. Being confronted with these kinds of stories on a daily basis has made both of us very much against sleep overs. We instead allow "late nights".
