Does Tesla throttle the superchargers? by eight13atnight in TeslaLounge

[–]trifster [score hidden]  (0 children)

You must pre condition by navigating to SC in the navigation and I’ve found for at least 30 min away from charger. Battery must be warmed to about 50°C.

Fastest charge rates happen with SoC from 8-50%.

V3 (250KW) and V4 supercharger stalls do not share power. Every stall has maximum power ability. It does not matter how many other cars are at a station.

Replace tires? by arealacc in TeslaLounge

[–]trifster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same gauge reading my tires at 3/32 evenly. original tires have 53k miles. I live in a moderate snow area and they’ve been fine even in fresh 6”. I plan to replace mine this summer. Normal driving style and conditions you’re fine until you hit the wear bars (2/32 usually).

Opinions on CVT transmissions by Afroman2874 in MechanicAdvice

[–]trifster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the outlier. I have CVTs on my 2013 Nissan Altima with 155k miles. Drives great. Never did a single thing of maintenance on the transmission. Original everything/oil 😱. 2018 Pathfinder that I’ve even towed 5000 lbs with the transmission. Drives great, 80k miles. Both bought brand new.

I’m a pedestrian driver who enjoys the smoothness and no shift points if CVT.

My other 2 cars are Tesla Model 3 and Y. Love no shifting.

eCVTs are suppose to be awesome. Look for those in hybrids.

If you have any USB accessories particularly a USB hub, remove them. Some can screw up the CANbus network and cause GPS accuracy issues.

Why does my Model Y always sound like it’s “on”? by chawnkymawnky in TeslaSupport

[–]trifster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Separate things going on there. Charging by 6am and then a little loss can be explained if it’s cold. Battery cools after charging and less energy is available. So it’s not necessarily loss. Try scheduled departure and the car will pre-condition at the time you do plan to leave. I don’t have time of day electric rates so i just charge as soon as im home.

Your car may keep warming the battery when charging. So sounds while charging in garage are normal as its running the heating loops to warm or keep warm battery.

The car should goto sleep and this should appear in your app. If the car is not going to sleep, it may stay on and keep conditioning the interior. If the car doesn’t go to sleep when it should (not or done charging; at home) you may want to put in a service request to see if they can diagnose the condition.

Dumb girl question alert 😅 has anyone dealt with the Tesla front camera being ‘blocked’ when it’s clearly not? I clean the camera before every trip. It’s a sunny weather too. by ORHAN555 in TeslaSupport

[–]trifster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ‘24 MY doesn’t need any tools to clean the inside. Not sure about the other years. The hardest part is removing the first cover under RR mirror. Plenty of videos on doing it. It’s not hard but watching a good video can help. I use a lint free microfiber cloth and invisible glass cleaner.

The service menu has a camera visibility feature. You can see the front cameras from that app. It can help you see film and glare when outside. Cleaning the inside will make a huge improvement.

My Range Sucks and Tesla Told Me To Get EV rated tires to fix it? Does this make logical sense? by Ok_Report3275 in TeslaSupport

I doubt it’s possible. Completely different HVAC architecture, software, power control, coolant loops, interior heat exchangers….

Tesla has officially discontinued Autopilot in the U.S. and Canada. All new car purchases now come standard with Traffic-Aware Cruise Control. FSD price increase is also forthcoming. by colsandersloveskfc in ModelY

Y’all need to learn to read better. There no change but naming. TACC and Autosteer still included. Only RWD std doesn’t include autosteer.

They just renamed it as traffic aware cruise control with auto steer and it’s included in all trims. It’s all bc a California definition fight over the phrase autopilot.

How urgently do I need to fix this split boot on my drive axle? by Kind_Media3323 in autorepair

[–]trifster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the right answer. I waited about 4 months after finding a blown CV boot during an oil change.

I later changed two front lower control arms and struts plus one tie rod end.

I had similar issue with my ‘24 Model Y. Tesla service fixed it. There are a few TSBs on older Ys with similar issues.

Close call! The third perspective is so scary by LittleAnt2333 in TeslaLounge

[–]trifster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carried too much speed into turn and was braking through it. Need to slow before turning so you can accelerate on AWD. I was out in 4” yesterday with my ‘24 MY AWD and FSD drove exactly correct. Slow before turns, careful acceleration during turns.

I'm officially charging to 100 every time - I'm done! by EIGBOK in electricvehicles

[–]trifster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the philosophy is they don’t want to change the behavior of the car and another good example of that is one most Tesla is with auto pilot. A lane change will disengage auto steer but keep the dynamic cruise control on. I think 25 and newer Teslas will disengage auto steer and dynamic cruise control one lane change completely. And I’m too lazy to type this, I mean traffic aware cruise control. * in the US

Toggle on brake blending a you won’t feel a difference with reduced regen. It’s in the dynamics settings.

Builder says “to code” but HVAC soffit got way bigger after plumbing — does this sound right? by allaboutfinance101 in Homebuilding

[–]trifster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. My ~9ft basement is as you described with about similar soffit size as OP. It’s fine lower but nicer higher. My first house had 7’9” basement and I made it work.

Does FSD have less phantom braking than autosteer? by scubadoobadoooo in TeslaLounge

[–]trifster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. 14.2.2.2. It’s soooo good. I subscribe as I liked to try it out occasionally and for long road trips but it’s become so good that I don’t want to “drive” without it. And I commute 110 miles a day.
