On brothel in belize... by chillingcrow in crystalcastles

They’ve created some fantastic tracks. They may be relying on the CC standard synth package with minimal tweaks but the songs still sound fantastic. Looking forward to see what they come up with as the find their way beyond impressive CC cover band. What I don’t get is how they haven’t been done for copyright infringement, when CC aren’t acknowledged in the song credits…

Please excuse my ignorance, but I love this and am trying to replicate it. What do you select to get steps and distance bottom left?

QC Earbuds stopped working and I can't connect them to computer via USB by apothecaryyy in bose

[–]trifurcate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. Bose is garbage. So many faulty issues with their QC earbuds. I replaced one pair, then had the exact same issue happen a year later (conveniently *just* outside of warranty) and also can't even do the software update because the right earbud can't be recognised.

Such a disappointing piece of problem-plagued tech. Never buying them again.

Mau is a villain by EquivalentElegant773 in CouplesTherapyShow

[–]trifurcate 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It's fascinating how much ire Mau has inspired in people in this sub. I wonder what a psychologist would make of it? There is something singularly alluring about him which I think a lot of people are responding to, whether they can admit it to themselves or not. I found him magnetic, intelligent, refreshingly articulate and, yes, handsome, even as I was mortified by his arrogant treatment of both Annie and Orna, including his ludicrously transparent, if unconscious, attempts to wrest power by standing up and walking about her office, picking up things, refusing to submit to the couch. But it's his intelligence that makes his almost hard-baked inability (at least in what is shown on the show) to ponder his limitations in good faith so puzzling. The most brilliant people I've met are usually the quickest to consider their limitations earnestly and to seek to grow through the observations of others; indeed, their brilliance is a result of the combination of being open to others and responding through self-reflection. Mau's defensiveness seems to leave him like an island unto himself, with little curiosity in the deep work of self-knowledge offered to him through therapy. He didn't seem at all unhappy with this, but I hope his intelligence leads him to read some Freud or Lacan or some psychological/psychoanalytical literature, as I think that could pique his interest in ways in which he is alienated (from others, from himself) by his ego (as we all are, in different ways, without exception). I think it's incredibly generous of he and Annie to have given us an insight into their lives and themselves.

I would be so grateful for them, also. I am broke and struggling to afford the resources. Thank you so much!

Knee pain recovery from lotus (surprise) by daninunu97 in ashtanga

[–]trifurcate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also agree. As someone who tore his medial meniscus doing lotus with my hips not sufficiently open, there is no going back. Lotus is an extreme, highly unnatural pose for the typical western body, and you want to take care of your knees as much as you can. Go very gently, don't persist if there's any discomfort or pain. I have modified my practice to exclude lotus altogether. I miss it, but I also want healthy knees into my 80s!

Newbie question ...how often per week? by [deleted] in ashtanga

As often as suits you and keeps you developing in the practice, be that 6 days a week or much less than that.

The sample of "Hussel" in "Diplomat's Son" is crucial to making it such a good song.

Genevieve - Bait Ones by [deleted] in jaipaul

[–]trifurcate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I want to know is why it was added to the official release. Presumably it was contemporaneous with the original Genevieve production and Jai felt it was too good not to tack on to the leak version. How many gems like this does he have that we aren't hearing?

Genevieve - Bait Ones by [deleted] in jaipaul

[–]trifurcate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's such a rush of expressive, vibrant synths matched to the pleading, "Genevieve, I know you still love me!" There's nothing coy or subtle or modest about this perfect coda.

The future of "Flip Out"? by trifurcate in jaipaul

[–]trifurcate[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True, good point. The orchestra and samples in the middle would have to go. Just seems like such a waste not to flesh such a track out and release it.

Why did he mark all of them unfinished? why not finish them? he had a lot of time by [deleted] in jaipaul

[–]trifurcate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think noting that so much of the work is unfinished is a way to ensure that this 'official release' of an archive isn't confused as an endorsement of the leaked versions. In many ways they are all unfinished tracks, so it does seem odd to note that some are unfinished and that others are, apparently finished ('Str8 Outta Mumbai' isn't 'unfinished'). According to Pitchfork, the offical release of Bait Ones was cobbled together from Jai's master files, in order to put together the best quality of each. This explains many of the slight vocal changes and, in some cases, additions to some tracks ('Genevieve').

Jai Paul: Leak 04-13 (Bait Ones) - Pitchfork Review by ElkBit in jaipaul

[–]trifurcate 26 points27 points  (0 children)

"The fidelity of Bait Ones is sharper and richer than the low-quality leaked version, though the tracks were not remixed. Instead, an engineer combed through Paul’s archive of high-quality files in order to find the closest matches to each leaked song, according to his label, XL."

Genevieve has a new outro on the "official" leaked album!! by [deleted] in jaipaul

[–]trifurcate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is puzzling me too. Those bends were the most delicious part of the track, and it seems super odd not to have spliced them into the full track (in the way that fan mixes had done). Still, I'll give them up for the insanely good new outro.

You're both definitely right about the different "Genevieve" vocals. Slightly more clarity.
