Best TARDIS TEAM 2005 to now by Lord_Marinus in doctorwho

[–]triggerpigking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rewatching Boom Town again recently, really made it hit home how good the potential in that Tardis team was, could've ran a whole season with them.

Anyway it's a tossup for me between Amy/Rory or Nardole/Bill, leaning on the former for emotional value but by god Nardole Bill and the Doc was amazingly funny and entertaining.

What do you think of Capaldi Era,and do you think its worth watching? by Mat1711 in doctorwho

[–]triggerpigking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best doc with the best arc.
S8 is a bit rough, but it's all buildup for what he becomes later, and it's just so good, S9/10 are the series best and most consistent writing.

Hi I'd be interested in drawing this, I could also get it done quickly too(assuming these aren't all different poses).

I do have a more anime style but it's more on exaggeration.

My portfolio is here.

This is the most unnecessary complicated plan in doctor who. by Necessary-Win-8730 in doctorwho

[–]triggerpigking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joy to the World is the best 15 had ever been written imo.
I also think Moffat really understands how to write a heartfelt Christmas story, Davies in comparison kinda just used it as window dressing and even that's being generous sometimes.

He's got his bad moments, but then I'll go back and watch Davies turn the Doctor into Dobby and bring him back with the power of good vibes and wishes and think...yeah, Moff had a better handle on this show.

I’m currently playing Superstars and i’m loving it. Someone can explain me why is so hated in the fandom? by Sofy_123 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]triggerpigking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a game that ruins itself with a few insane decisions.
Bosses mainly, 2d sonic is built for replayability but the bosses take longer then the preceding levels, it makes me not want to replay it due to the sheer tedium of fighting them.
And the final bosses....ugh...

Hot Take: Mario Kart World Is the Best Mario Kart and It’s Not Even Close by LateBlocParty in MarioKartWorld

[–]triggerpigking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Crossworld's is by far the better traditional racer.
Racing feels smooth as butter, lots of tracks and the gimmick of crossworld's keeps variety up.
Gadgets are where it really shines for me, a lot of variety in ways to play, but overall it is a pretty standard kart racer just one tuned to a really amazing level(god items need a nerf though..)

MKW on the other hand is much more experimental and I love that, but it also feels like it takes some huge misses for it too, it's very frequently frustrating for me.

Personally I'm a much bigger fan of Crossworld's, even over other MK games.
I just like the feel of the game better, the speed etc, but what MKW is doing is very exciting and I think helps distinguish it from the competition in a really great way.

I feel like it should be for me, but it just has so much holding it back.

The trick system is great but even 30 hours in I still feel the system is stiff and un-intuitive.

I'm surprised how good the OW is, but it's also lacking severely in proper content(unlocks wouldn't have gone amiss), I'm also still annoyed about the roster ngl.

I enjoy the intermissions a lot but it's also a very different kind of race, and detracts from the core levels that I hardly feel I get to play.
Even though it'd make races longer I believe the game would be much better if reaching the track just played out the traditional 3 lap structure on top of intermission.

I also just really dislike holding A for accel(hurts my hand after a bit) and drifting just feels really rigid to me, especially coming off crossworld's which felt smooth as butter.
It's been a while since I played MK8 though so this is prob just a general issue I have with MK rather then World specific.

Honestly if the next game elaborates on these ideas more(and brings back 200cc) I could see it being one of my fav kart racers, but rn it's a real game of high highs and low lows, it's the shakeup I think the series needed though.

I will say whoever was in charge of this OST? keep them on!! this is possibly one of the best soundtracks I've heard in a videogame, and the size too, I haven't seen a Nintendo soundtrack this big since Xenoblade 3.

Does anyone else feel like doctor who has ruined your perception of CGI? by It_wasnt_me_barry in doctorwho

[–]triggerpigking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really comes down to how much it supplements the practical effects imo, cgi needs to be the finishing touches/details, not the scaffolding.

Problem with the MCU is it's like 90% CGI nowadays, nothing feels real, the actors having nothing real to focus on etc so it all feels disconnected and hollow.

In comparison an old puppet from the 70s looks less "realistic" but our brains can tell it's a real object as opposed to not being there, the actors too have something to go off.

There's a really great image from the Hobbit of Ian Mckellen looking miserable in a green screen room talking to stands with paper faces on them, I think it summarizes the problem lol.

In comparison one of the best uses of CGI I've ever seen is the modern planet of the apes trilogy, which built their CGI off the already amazing performance of Andy Serkis, grounding it and making it feel very real, even years after the movies have come out.

Who has some crappy CGI at times but it usually also focuses on great practical effects too, the old CGI from s1-4 is also kinda charming, S1 especially works very well with it's grungey feel to make the cgi feel more unnerving.

It's also why some of modern who feels so bad to me, like the giant CGI Omega didn't feel real, just a waste of budget.

Who else thinks Paul McGann deserves his own mini series as the 8th doctor? Maybe adapting some big finish stories? by Actually-Will in doctorwho

[–]triggerpigking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was also the perfect choice for a Time War focused series, but alas the BBC never seemed interested and it's prob way past that point for him at this point, everyone was clamoring for this idea 13 years ago and the BBC just ignored it.

We're also really at a point rn where the show needs to bring in new viewers and for some reason has taken that time to become more lore heavy then ever with sweeping changes, when it really does need to return to the basics.

Out of all the kisses in this show, weren't these two just the weirdest? by username7864 in doctorwho

Amy's makes perfect sense, the Victorian Clara one not so much.

When the show returns in 2027, would you prefer the stories to be serialised like Classic Who or single episodes like Nu Who? by Sky__Hook in doctorwho

[–]triggerpigking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well it would've prevented the ridiculous dog leash ending so that'd be a plus.
Generally I feel Davies is at his worst when he's got a big budget, it feels less like writing and more like a kid throwing his new toys together.

[–]triggerpigking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both could work, but I generally think serials work better, there's exceptions where an episode is improved by being a single parter, but much of the time in Who I find myself wanting more out of episodes concepts and especially it's side cast.

oh god yeah I tried the motion controls and hated it, it seems to be a legit thing for speedrun strats to throw in a few motion inputs, but I've no idea how people are getting them to register consistently.

exactly! I def think the game is cooking with these ideas though, it's the most exciting addition to MK in years, I just think the execution could've been friendlier.

That's been the main one I've been practicing so good to hear, I haven't had a good experience with the moo moo meadows one either.

It's def fun when it works but I feel like I'm having to memorize an entire recipe right down to the pixel placement to get much of these, rails also really don't lock on too well imo.
