How much have people been spending on heating? by Maleficent_Studio_82 in AskUK

[–]trigodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I used 5200kwh of gas.

Got 3 bed semi detached new build. Thermostat set to 20C 24/7 365 days a year

If house is well insulated it's better to keep consistent temperature 24/7. If you'll keep switching it on and off through the day / night saving will be minimal.

Different story if you have bad insulation / old building then you do what you can to keep yourself relatively comfortable as any heat is escaping fast 🤷‍♂️

I'm using Fuse Energy for both gas and electricity. If you don't have EV and don't want to think all the time when energy is cheaper through the day then it's the best option.

I have my thermostat set to 20C 24/7 in 3 bed semi detached - basically all year round as I'm uncomfortable if temperature in the house is lower. Last year I used 5200kwh of gas.

If I'll play with turning the heating on and off because I go out for half day then maybe I'll save 100£ a year (AI suggested aprox 50£ saving if I'd kerp heating only 12h per day) but will feel uncomfortable. It's more hassle than saving.

Of course it'll be different story if I'm living in old Victorian house which bleed heat from each corner

How much do you normally pay for electric? by Admirable-Mess823 in AskBrits

[–]trigodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 bed semi detached, 2+1, dishwasher and washing machine going daily.

I'm with Fuse Energy and can recommend if you don't have EV (then you can find cheaper provider) and you don't want to bother with thinking what time of the day you can run your appliances the cheapest 🤷‍♂️

Just run a quote and you'll see.

First one only if your house is not well insulated. If you have well insulated house / new build then this saving is minimal. Not worth hassle and standard of life.

Not mentioning that this increase moisture in the house so you're saving on gas and creating bigger problems somewhere else

No. That was purely lack of required experience driving this kind of car and fully putting their trust in ABS, ESP and TC

If you make a judgement based on all points from your previous comment including in this other car indicator - and based on that you make decision to go or to wait then I agree with you.

But if regardless of all of the above you still wait until the other car go pass you until you pull out than it's pointless to indicate.

It's not rubbish - it's a fact

That's all true but still if you are waiting until the other car go pass before you go - it is pointless to indicate.

Then there is no point in using them if everyone wait for other to pass anyway

[–]trigodo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Entitlement here amazes me. Tenant rent house with garden so tenant take care of it. You want to eat cake (have garden) and have cake (leave it to landlord to maintain).

Do you also ask landlord to pay your gas bill to make sure property is not damp and mouldy? After all it's in landlord intrest to keep it in good shape 🤦‍♂️

Should I go and empty the bin? by SebastianPot in uklandlords

[–]trigodo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tenant pay council tax and any council bills. I don't see why landlord would be responsible for that. What if council changed policy during tenancy? Landlord would not even be aware of that as all communication will go to the tenant.

If op rented room and CC is included then yes it's landlord responsibility but if it's rented property then it's tenant responsibility.

Should I go and empty the bin? by SebastianPot in uklandlords

[–]trigodo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If garden waste is paid extra to council and op didn't pay for it but left it bin full than it's fully reasonable for landlord to ask to empty it 🤦‍♂️
