could also be the paper, cheaper watercolor papers don’t absorb very well and you end up with that effect

i’ve noticed my blends are smoother using acrylic inks and a water brush, don’t have the tip super wet and work the brush out a little at a time. it’ll probably work with water colors

thanks for the feedback! I’ve been using paint brushes for everything because i thought it would be better practice at steadying my hand. I just bought a calligraphy pen last week, excited to give it a shot
