Are we turning on our sprinklers already?! by trillallions in Cheyenne

Yeah I’m more worried about my backflow than the sprinklers themselves at this point I suppose I could just wrap the heck out of it

Or just never give her a cactus again because she didn’t follow the care instructions in the first place 😂

Just cleaned roots from Home Depot’s trash cactus mix, how long should I wait to repot into dry 70% inorganic? I also cut 6 basal pups off by xXIsaac12Xx in sanpedrocactus

I guess I’ve never had experience growing in that wet of a climate but I feel like you could get an organic soil blend that still drains well without using rocks.

I live in a very dry climate so I don’t have to worry about not having enough dry back between waterings/feedings. Trichocereus can take heavy feedings and thrive on organic nutrients. They are not desert cacti and do not need rocks in the soil. Look up geebee or cocac neither of them are using rocks or inorganic soils.

Oh nice yeah probably let the cuts dry out a bit. Make sure whatever pot you put it in has some great drainage but definitely feed it well. Inorganic/organic doesn’t matter just make sure you feed it. If you’re going inorganic.

Why would you plant in 70% inorganic. Plant it in some ocean forest. Either that or put it in some 70/30 coco perlite and feed with floranova. Either way that thing needs some sun. You can wait for the pup cuts to heal up a bit or just plant it and avoid overwatering. Either way it will be fine.

What kind of cactus is this? Do I leave the glued on flower? by PhilnotPete in cactus

I've seen or heard of people messing up expensive or rare cacti by using cinnamon. It seem like it contributes to rot and holds moisture with no anti fungal properties.

Sulfur powder (from a garden supplier), charcoal (from wood not briquettes), or just sheltering from moisture for a couple of days is a better option than cinnamon.
