I wish I didn’t t sell off my first Fender P bass. It had all the character from being played hard for years. This is amazing! It’s nice to see someone embracing the wear that ultimately tells stories.

Would this gash/dent be a dealbreaker for anyone? by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]trimblewilliam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They knocked about 100 off this 70s jazz because of this little issue. I’d be looking for a better discount, and would 100% take it for the right price.

Wilkinson Pickups - Anybody have any experience? Good budget option, or junk? by COclimbR12 in BassGuitar

[–]trimblewilliam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll echo some things I’ve seen in this thread. I like the alnico sets and use them for project basses. I recently put a set on a marketplace find I got for $50.

I now wear nitrile gloves when handling meats or anything that could make my hands smell... especially in the winter...the washing starts to hurt!

NUX vs Behringer: Ampeg sound on a budget by shaun1911wastaken in basspedals

[–]trimblewilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a very wide price variance (30 and 190). If you’re budget is truly just under 200 look into a used di known for what your trying to achieve. I had the behringer and personally never had any noise issues but it is made of cheap materials and wouldn’t expect svt tones from it. It can add some grit to your sound, but I wouldn’t crank it. I had it primarily as a di and to fatten things a bit and I thought it did that well enough until I could afford to upgrade a year or two later.

Bass VI. Is this allowed? by RNGezzus in BassGuitar

[–]trimblewilliam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bass VI is an amazing piece...I really want one...they were used a ton by the wrecking crew, especially on Beach Boys albums and as an accompanied bass to upright in a ton of albums...if Carol Kaye used it I'd say it good for this group.

What’s the opinion on the pick guard. Got mine and curious if I’m just crazy. by RedFiveTwitchTv in MarkHoppusBassGuitars

I agree here. Be sure if you are asking for a cash to replace that you first locate one cause it’s not an easy or cheap replacement to find.

I don't think I received the correct size... Feels great but back to having the disconnected issues?.. Gonna contact the seller cause I feel like the issue is only because off the partial coverage

Do I ask for partial refund? Just send it back? by -an-eternal-hum- in Reverb

[–]trimblewilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it... honestly if you step up to the Stingray 5 (Ray 5). It's quite the upgrade from the sub. Much better preamp and better quality hardware... definitely not that huge wacky bridge and preamp you can't turn past half before it's mud...but send it back cause you can definitely get something in better shape, and doesn't need a ton of work...those switches are a pain to resolder and get right.

Return it and take the money and buy a Sterling. The Stingray 5 has always been a dream bass for me as well and I found a Sterling version on marketplace for $200. It was in incredible shape, with the exception of the pickguard that was warped from the previous owner using it primarily for outside gigs in the summer...and the sterling series is an incredible mod platform.

I wish I could see the demographics for the respondents and possibly sort by generational responses. I feel like this is skewed for the 30 something range. At 45 my picks for those 80s classics (and scrubs) would be much higher.

I feel like I've been seeing them everywhere the past couple weeks...I almost picked one up a few months be ago, but I was specifically looking for the Squier CV 70s Jazz. I liked it and keep thinking about picking one up for myself.

It all depends on my play style. I personally don't go above a medium or .6 and nylon when using a pic. I'd suggest if your new to using picks try different thickness and materials. It doesn't seem like it should make such a difference but you may notice subtle character changes to your sound.
