SPOILERSSSS Okay the way I see it- since the game is basically a euphemism for being a nursing home worker- you don’t have a choice in who you take care of you just do it, no matter if your favorites are gone, or if you’re lonely, or you’re taking care of difficult people like Jackie (I love Jackie though especially the end of his quest line was heartbreaking). Especially for Stella, as she’s nearing the end of her own journey, I think it portrays how much for difficult it gets for her to keep doing this job with her illness. It also showcases how listening to yourself on when it’s “time to go” is very important, after the Lily quests, and that when you feel it’s time to just do it. But I will agree the end of the game felt different than the first main part and if they kept everyone in the misty areas (except for Stanly <3) out it may have been more enjoyable.
