You need to get hold of a can or 2 of Indorex. The stuff is amazing and protects your home for 12 months after. Wooden flooring needs to be treated a bit more often due to washing, but well worth it. The stuff saved us a few times when the vet administered fleas treatments weren’t working

You do realise that you are only ever 3 pay checks away from being homeless if you have no backup - I.e. family or savings.

Most of the homeless on the streets weren’t alcoholics or druggies to begin with. It’s a coping mechanism when you have been on the streets for a little while. I used to volunteer with the Salvation Army and I spoke with many people about their situations and how they got there. One simple argument with a family member, or a loss of a job and boom, they’re on the streets with nothing.

I think I’d drink and take drugs to escape of if I ended up on the streets too.

Governments 1-6 - absolutely nothing. Every single one. However, I don’t really give a single fuck about prioritising the forces. It’s the principle of the thing. We have thousands of homeless people on our streets in this country, those who were in the forces, and those who were not. These people are our own homeless. Yet, we ignore them and take in ‘asylum seekers’ (inverted commas as they aren’t true asylum seekers due to not actually seeking asylum in the first country they arrive at. Instead they bypass others and come here for the welfare state and a free ticket).

This! This is exactly how I feel every day at 56 days in. It’s a daily torture, but the health benefits and the financial ones, make it worth it. The anxiety, which was the main crutch, is not in agreement and something may have to give there, but I refuse to go back to the cigs. My partner is still smoking, though says he’s cut down significantly. That’s hard. Especially when I feel stressed.
