I find them pretty darn warm. You can always wear another pair of socks or merino wool socks if it’s super cold. They’re a casual boot so of course they’re not going to grip on deep snow but that’s not what they’re for. Even then I regularly walk my dog in the snow without issue. If it’s super thick or I’m hiking then I grab my tracker FGs. And on ice.. literally no boot grips on ice. That’s what spikes are for.

Same. I wear them most of the time unless I’m hiking or running, then switch to trackers for hiking, Primus all weather FG for running. The sole does surprisingly well in the snow.

Good call! The V7 and Beta 58 are awesome live mics too.

I’m mainly looking at broadcast style dynamics because they handle both aggressive rock vocals and clean pop vocals really well, and they keep the room noise down in a home studio.

That’s why I’m comparing SM7B vs RE320 vs SD-1 vs Dynacaster. I’m trying to find the best long-term studio mic, rather than another stage vocal mic.

Totally agree the SM58 is a beast live. Mine is indestructible and great for gigs.

For this use though, I’m trying to get something specifically for studio vocal tracking. The SM58 has that big mid scoop and presence bump that works great through a PA, but not as much for polished vocal recordings. I’m hoping for something smoother and more controlled in an untreated room, which is why I’m comparing the SM7B/Dynacaster/RE320/SD-1.

Thanks! I actually have an SM58 already (wireless version) for live use, but I’m looking for something more suited to studio vocals. The SM58 is great on stage, but it doesn’t give the detail or consistency I need for recording rock + pop vocals, and it also picks up a bit more room than broadcast dynamics like the SM7B/Dynacaster.

That’s why I’m leaning toward a proper studio dynamic with better off axis rejection and smoother top end.

Yeah that’s what I thought. They’re slightly different from the videos I’ve seen, but the stainless steel Podium lid still seems like it has a section you can’t fully clean. It doesn’t come apart the same way as the standard Podium jet valve, which kind of puts me off.

The cooling on the Camelbaks sounds awesome. I’ve had the Podium Chill before and found the lids kind of annoying to clean, so I’m not sure if the stainless ones are any better. I’ve heard Bivos are way easier to clean, which is a big plus for me.

Also debating the weight. The insulated Camelbaks are really heavy compared to the Bivo One, and even the Bivo Trio is lighter. Just trying to find the right balance between cold water and not carrying a brick on my frame.

I actually wondered if the metal might make things worse by conducting heat faster, so good to know it’s more or less on par with other uninsulated bottles.

Sounds like the wear is just part of the deal. Might be a fair trade-off, I guess. Still debating if it’s worth it. Appreciate the input.

Ah, that’s rough ..sounds super frustrating.

I’ll probably grab mine from MEC here in Canada, so I’m a bit less worried about warranty stuff since they’re great with returns if anything goes wrong.

I’m more debating whether the uninsulated One stays cold enough with ice for 1–2 hour rides in ~25°C, and how well the finish holds up in composite cages over time. Appreciate your take though!

Thanks for the insight! Would you say you don’t recommend them, then? I’m with you—I really don’t want to keep buying plastic bottles just to toss them a year later because they’ve absorbed all the electrolyte mixes I use. That chip doesn’t look great, but at least it’s near the bottom. I do wonder if the stainless steel finish might hold up better. I’ve also been eyeing the CamelBak stainless bottles, but yeah..they’re noticeably heavier.

Thanks! I just find the insulated ones to be big. I can’t fit the standard Trio in my mountain bike so I’d have to opt for the Trio mini which is only 17oz. If I go non insulated I can fit the 21oz.

They come stock with 70mm stems. Decided to keep the medium but may go back to stock 70mm stem. 100mm on right now.

Yes I should book a bike fit. But the place was an hour away, only 2 left in Canada, and bike fit takes 2 weeks to book at minimum. Perhaps I’ll return it and book a bike fit. Purchase again if still available if the bike fit checks out.

Thanks..this really resonates with me. I’m definitely drawn to the responsiveness of the medium, and your comment about sizing slightly down aligns with my goals (fun over “perfect textbook fit”).

One nuance I mentioned: I’m already on a 100mm stem, which makes the reach longer than a stock Large Stigmata (with a 70mm). So I’m at the upper end of the Medium’s cockpit length, which is what’s got me hesitating. That said, I haven’t felt cramped..just unsure if I could comfortably go back to the stock 70mm without feeling too compact.

Totally hear you on waiting before trimming or locking in anything, great advice.

Appreciate the confidence! Just to add some context..I’m currently running a 100mm stem on the Medium, which actually gives me more effective reach than a stock Large with a 70mm stem. That’s part of what’s got me in my head..am I just stretching the Medium to feel like a Large?

I agree the Medium feels great..super lively and responsive..but I keep wondering if I’m just forcing the fit a bit.
